Now as we all know and have realized, Kapono really brings nothing to the table for us except for shooting which we have plenty of. With that being said he doesn't even produce for us..or hasn't the last 10 games. Right now I'd rather give Joey more minutes then Kapono.

Should we seriously consider dealing him away for a good wing player? He's making wayy to much money and I'm sure a team like the Nuggets,Lakers could use him.

Another question I have is, whats the most we can get for him?

No cause when we get TJ back he'll go back to playing with an actual PG when he's on the floor. He'll be good for 10-15pts then easily.

Kapono is doing exactly what he's supposed to do create space. He is not getting shots up because teams are playing tight on the perimeter. When TJ is back and we get some penetration you will see the perimeter open up again and you will think back to this thread and say to yourself "wow Kapono is money, I can't believe I started that (Please Use More Appropriate Word) thread in January. What was I thinking?!"

I wouldn't trade Kapono at the moment, largely because it is unlikely to return much value; his contract isn't in 'negative' territory, but I can't imagine him bringing back more than an expiring deal plus a borderline prospect/pick, or a similar role player with a long contract.

I'd rather keep him for the remainder of the season; see how he performs in the playoffs (as it was with an eye to the post-season that he was signed, IMO), and re-evaluate his situation during the summer.

I think he's referring to the fact that Kapono is frequently on the floor with either Dixon/Martin with Ford out...and those two are to ball movement what an Abrams tank is to slalom skiing.

how can you fault the guy for his production over the past 10 games? he barely gets PT and when he does, he's got dixon or martin passing to him.

he's a money shooter, something that is invaluable and you can never have too many good shooters on a team. he WON the indiana game for us, he's worth every penny.

He's a money shooter. But he's setting up inside the arc too much IMO. Practically all his shots are 15-18 foot mid-range shots. Out of his 45 field goal attempts this month, only 6 are 3-pointers. Against the Pistons, he had 13 FGA, none of which were 3's. That should never happen. Could you imagine James Jones, Boobie Gibson, Mike Miller or Steve Kerr back in the day or any other 3-point sniper taking 13 shots in a game without attempting a single 3? He needs to camp his ass outside the arc.

ya one of the more important aspects of the game....
i think cause kapono is not the greatest defender.... smith is burning him for it.... and under utilizing him... sure its great to have a great hard worker like sam... but not everyone can follow sam in his shoes... let him be that guy that floats around the arch and drain those clutch 3's that hes good at.... make some plays for the damn guy and im sure he'll hit them... which is so important in late game situations.... we do have shooters? who ? AP is the only other "SOLID" 3 point shooter we have right now....

Kapono's usefulness depends a lot on matchups. A quick team like Atlanta puts him at a disadvantage. Come playoff time, if we were to get into another long series with a club like New Jersey or Orlando -- both of which tend to defend the paint and let the opposition shoot -- he will be very useful.

I'd trade him to Miami for Dorrell Wright.

Having said the above, i think he's a tradeable asset and you have to look at what you can get in return, and if he would bring somemore interior offense and interior toughness, i'd consider it

He was acquired for the playoffs, wait until then to make a judgment on him.

So would many Heat fans on the trade board, I gather. Wright is still an intriguing prospect (just turned 22), and at the worst projects out to a slightly less heady version of Moon (or Travis Outlaw with a worse shooting stroke). I don't see the star potential anymore, but he has the talent to make the gamble worthwhile.

Its not like Kapono doesn't give us anything. It's Sam Mitchell who sits him yet we pay him $$$ to be our 3pt specialist. How many plays are run for Kapono, NONE. The only way Kapono gets to have a play is when players dish out to him, especially Delfino. Delfino loves to pass to Kapono.

If Sam Mitchell were to actually utilize Jason Kapono, our offense can be better. Like that time Kapono KAPWNED for 26pts I think against the Pacers...This guy can contribute, give him a chance, and he will deliver.

Sam is treating him like he's worse than BRICKYANI.
