Do we have any long term pieces in place besides Bosh

Everybody says that we are preparing for a 2009 /10 /11 Championship run

I just don't honestly see any pieces solidly in place except Bosh

Maybe:

Calderon
Moon {Only other possible that I see}

Most other teams I see 3-4 untouchables
Please tell me if I am crazy or not

Seriously, I can't definitely say anyone except Kapono and Rasho if you need staple role players.

Bargnani. Just give him time. I have a feeling he'll turn into a good player in this league.

Rasho will be way too old but I think you may be right about Kapono. His offensive problems are more our lack of penetration & ball movement then his lack of consistent scoring

TJ hopefully... and maybe Delfino as well...

Bosh and TJ together are pretty solid, but TJ's a big question mark right now. He was having his best season thus far before going down. BC also decided not to build around Bosh and instead chose to draft a player who really doesn't work with Bosh. We really are screwed at this point. I don't see what BC is thinking about for out 5. Does he honestly think we can win in the playoffs with finesses players in the front court and guard positions?

I hope your right but I don't think he will ever be a center.
On the outside he will get owned by quicker SF's. On the inside by most every center

He will have to be dealt for a true center IMHO

Wow .... uhh, Jose anybody?

But other than that .... man we need to get lucky in the draft .... get a R.Jeff or Rip in the middle of the 1st round.

this is why this team needs TJ back, since TJ's injury our draw and kick game has been terrible, we've had to rely on Bosh for the double teams he commands to get our shooters going and teams are starting to ajust to the ball movement around the perimiter ending with the three from the corner...

Even if TJ comes back physically I doubt he be mentally the slasher he was
His next incident will likely be within the next 2 years looking @ history

The Raps are a Billion Dollar business who can't bet the future on a longshot
We rolled the dice once & lost but I don't see us doing it again
I do however see TJ coming back & being an effective backup pg {BUT NOT THE SLASHER HE WAS} just too risky

We all dream that this could happen but the cards are all stacked against it Longterm

Bosh - 6'10", 20/10 guys don't grow on trees

Ford - probably our best PURE talent ... only player on the team that plays with a swagger ...

Moon - team's best defender ... a utility guy, scores, defends, rebounds ...

That's exactly why I started this tread

1] He won't change his game, will get re injured & retire OR
2] He will change his game & not be a slasher which will kill this team without
penetration but he will stick around for a much longer career

1. you have no faith in TJ Ford.. that is a given. Al Horford's 'slap' was a 'freak' accident

2. he won't change his game.

What you see now can be deceiving.

The key to success is not always about looking at your core and projecting what they'll be like in 3 years. That's only part of it.

What I look at is "do we have assets that Bryan can turn into core players?" The answer is yes.

There are a lot of solid players on the Raptors and no crazy Isiah type contracts. I expect Bryan will make a couple of bold moves between now and October 2008, that will give us a better indication of what the Raps will look like in 2009-10.

And now we can't acquire a proper 5, because that would impede Bargnani's development. It's a great situation we're in. Meanwhile, our true franchise player will be worn down by having to rebound for two.

Depends which way Colangelo wants to go, if he wants to build with what we have then its Bosh, Bargnani, TJ, Jose, Kapono, Humphries, Delfino, Moon and Graham. They are all relatively young and have yet to peak and most are under contract or we have the ability to match for the forseeable future.

However people forget when BC came here his plan was not even to win right away and it was surprising to everyone including BC that we have played like we have. So I question really if this is the team BC wants going forward and I expect to see some changes along the way and perhaps even a major play. His goal along was to develop young players, aquire assets, keep the contracts all relatievly small and ending around 09-10 in an attempt to make a major splash at that time.

We weren't supposed to be this good this fast, lets see if it changes BC intial plan, time will tell.
