Playoff Matchups

Post#1 » by PopAGat » Sun Jan 20, 2008 4:33 am

Yeah, Yeah, I know. "ITS SO EARLY"

But out of the teams in the east, who do you think we stand a chance against? We know Detroit and Boston are teams we have no chance against.

With the teams currently in the playoff picture. I think we stand a chance against:
- Orlando Magic
- Cleveland Cavaliers
Teams I think we can beat(that we wont play in the 1st round):
- Atlanta Hawks
- New Jersey Nets
- Washington Wizards

IF the playoffs started today, the Magic would be our matchup. Not to be a homer, but I think we have a legit chance in beating them.

Discuss.

We can beat them its just we collapse in the end of the 3rd of the 4th. We just can't seem to hold leads. If we could hold leads, we would have had that game won against the Cavs and atleast 3-4 other games.

I think we can beat any team BUT the pistons and the celtics, they play to rough for us, if we could pick up a banger we might stand a chance against them, but for now I think it's safe to say that those two teams are our cryptonite

I also think we can beat any team other then Celtics & Pistons in the playoffs. BUT I don't trust this team against Lebron. It seems like when ever we play them, they lose it in the 4th or have a break down for Cavs to make it close.

We can outplay the Cavs as a whole, as long as we don't agro Lebron we're fine

The Cavs are one of the best rebounding teams in the league. They completely exposed the Nets last year. Doesn't that say enough considering the Nets made us look weak on the glass?

The Cavs are an awful match up for us. Don't let regular season play fool you.

As long as we dont let LeBron explode, we're fine.

Yea, after the obvious of Det & Bos, Cavs are probably the next worst.

Orlando would be a tough series, but I can see us pulling it out. Washington would also be tough, they've been pretty quietly playing extremely well.

Boston and Detroit we need to avoid at all costs in the first round.. Cleveland would beat us because they have Lebron, he steps his game up around playoff time, and that combined with their rebounding and interior presence means we will probably lose in 4 or 5...

After that we can beat anybody remaining, including Orlando...

Not to mention the number Lebron did on the Pistons in the East finals. The Cavs were a 50 win team last season. LeBron won

Anyone outside of Boston, Detroit, and the Cavs I'd feel comfortable facing in the first round. No chance agains these three teams though. All we can hope for is that Detroit and Boston age considerably over the next few years and that Cleveland doesn't add anymore complimentray pieces. There's a good chance we may get bounced by the Wiz, Nets also. I;m not afraid of atlanta or the Nets the other likely matchups. I'd rather miss the playoffs and get in the lottery than play one of the top three teams. what good would it do to get beat 4-0 or 4-1 in the series? We need to advance to the second round or not make it all. Definition of treadmill IMO.

All due respect, i dont think we can beat any of those teams...

Atlanta yes (but we're not gonna be #1 seed)..

Orlando, should go to 6 games..i see us losing

Wizards, would go to 7 games..we'd lose probablu

Boston and Detroit we got no chance what so ever

Atlanta is the only team I can comfortably say we'd beat and they might not even make the playoffs. A series against the Magic, Wizards, or Nets would be close... but I don't think we have a clear cut edge over any of them.

We'd be lucky to squeak out a single win against the Pistons or Celtics. I don't think that highly of the Cavs but I still have a feeling they'd handle us easily.

Agree we have to avoid the 7 or 8 playoff spot. At the end of the season if that is where we are we should likely Tank and try to get a better draft pick or have a lower number so we can trade up in a swap.

Orlando is obviously an inside team. There perimeter defense isn't that great so our perimeter game will help us alot to lift us past them. We just have to make sure we hold our leads and make our shots. We can beat ANY team in the east except for Boston and Detroit. This won't even be a question once TJ gets back into game shape.

Dwight Howard would kill us. We would have nobody to defend him.
