Calerdon/Bosh = Stockton/Malone

Yeah I know... enough with the comparisons, but after seeing Calderon being compared with Nash and others, I felt the need to express what I see as the most glaring comparison for our star new PG/PF combo. And it really is an amazing combination, and these 2 are really performing together at a very high level.
In the last 6 games, Bosh has been averaging almost 31PPG. There should be no doubt that with Calderon running the point, the Raptors on a whole, play better basketball. I know this has been debated to death on here, so I won't focus on this point.
However, in comparing Calderon/Bosh to Stockton/Malone, here are the relevant stats:
Stockton Year 3&4
YEAR TEAM G GS MPG FG% 3P% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
86-87 UTA 82 2 22.7 0.499 0.184 0.782 0.4 1.5 1.8 8.2 2.16 0.17 2 2.7 7.9

Bosh and Caldy are good on the pick-and-roll but nowhere near as good as Stockton and Malone were.
Stockton was also lite years ahead of Jose in terms of defense.

Why? It has nothing to do with colour or any physical comparison (bosh also does not have the size/bulk that Malone had), but has more to do with stats and they way they have been playing while TJ has been out.
Stockton/Malone were the best at the pick&roll yes, because they played together for 15 years! All I'm saying it Calderon/Bosh could be one of the better PG/PF combo's in the league....
The stats show a good comparison, how am i wrong?

I really liked your creativity for this one. For me personally, it has to do with experience playoff wise. When I see calderon/bosh together in the playoffs with that kind of production year after year than it would sink in.

it's not that bad a comparison when talking about era's.
stockton/malone were great in an era of greatness (mj, barkley, ewing, hakeem, magic, etc.)
in this era, bosh/calderon so far seem to hold up in the era of garbage nba play. in the era of lebron, kobe, duncan, etc., you can say bosh/calderon is something like a stockton/malone.

Karl Malone was a power player. Bosh is a finesse player. I don't really see the similarity.

You guys are under-rating Karl Malone.
Also Stockton was one of the best defenders at the PG position OF ALL TIME.

I agree that the stats are a great indication, but stockton/malone's game where on another level of teamwork, they the megazord of the jazz (I hope somebody understands that)

Bosh won't average 30 ppg, he has to work to get 22, get off the WEED

Power Rangers?
I think Bosh needs to start hitting on Kobe's wife just like Malone did...maybe that'd make the comparison a bit more truthful

lol do u even know who stockon and malone is?
both players are completely different than calderon and bosh.
imo calderon is awful at finding bosh and getting him the ball at good positions. calderon does the same pick and roll with everyone but he can't even feed bosh in the paint properly.

I don't think he was comparing the players as a whole - just the combination. Obviously, this is flying over some of your heads, and you are making him out to be another delusional fan. I think that Calderon and Bosh run the pick and roll better than anyone in the league, and based on era's, they can be compared to Stockton/Malone - BASED ON THE PICK AND ROLL ONLY. Stockton/Malone were the best in the late 80's/early 90's.

To me, Bosh/Calderon run the pick and pop, while Stockton and Malone ran the pick and ROLL, also pick and pop as well. But w/ Calderon, Bosh often catches the ball on the block or on the perimeter then he makes his move.

LMAO.
Malone dominated the post and was a power player. Bosh isn't even the same type of player.
Stockton was an amazing defender, one of the best for a PG that I've ever seen. Moreover, he played smart ball but on a whole other level than Jose.
And then those two together was something of legendary proportions. Bosh and Jose's teamwork is not even close to Malone-Stockton. It's like day and night.
If you want a Malone-Stockton comparison. You look at Utah and what they have right now. Boozer and Williams. Even they aren't at the level that Malone and Stockton were but they sure are a hell lot closer to than Bosh & Jose.

Horrible comparison. If anything, Boozer and Deron are the current stockton/Malone. Calderon is nowhere as good a PG as stockton was.

wow.. this is was off... 31 ppg and 14 asts per game... the defence of malone and stockton, two of the greatest players of ALL TIME are their respective positions, comparing them to BOSH and Calderon, who arent even the best of their ERA?
wow.
