Apparently that is somewhat of a Raptor tradition. In years past they've used Dora the Explorer bookbags... among others. I think its pretty darn funny!

As far as hazing goes it is fairly harmless and the sort of thing that should be encouraged rather that its uglier forms.

This year it's a High School Musical backpack-- last year the rookies all had Sponge Bob Square Pants backpacks.
