The Official Dunk Contest participants (w/Jamario Moon)

Post#1 » by Mr.Raptorsingh » Mon Jan 21, 2008 10:31 pm

Just heard via TNT who the dunk contest participants are. They are:

-Rudy Gay, Memphis Grizzlies

-Jamario Moon, Toronto Raptors

-Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic

-Gerald Green (defending champion), Minnesota Timberwolves

So do you guys think will win the dunk contest? I think it'll come down to Jamario Moon and Rudy Gay w/ Gay ultimately winning it.

Sorry, if already posted.

I dont see Rudy Gay as much of a creative finesse type dunker. He has the jumping ability n whatnot, but I dont think he'd make it to the finals.

Gerald Green is pretty good... I like Dwight Howard as well.

I think Jamario and Howard would be the final pair... Howard got robbed last year, and I think he'll come out a bit more creative and make it through this time. And because I'm a Raptors fan... I'll say Moon takes home the trophy.

Dwight is going to get a lot more slack for being bounced early last season. I'd love to see him showdown against Jamario. I think those two will bring creativity and fun to it while Green and Gay will just redo dunks we have all seen in the past. Atleast that is what I am expecting from this group.

Yea just checked out there dunk high lights on NBA.com. Why would u think Gay would win it? Unless he pulls out some real nice dunks, I'd think it would go to the one with the most story. Jamario Moon: 29 yrs old rookie, pink high school bag, harlem globetrotter connection, VC second coming(j/k). Can't top that, Rudy Gay!

Also want to add that there will be a new wrinkle to this year's dunk contest. Fans will be able to vote on who the winner ultimately is.

I dojnt mind the smaller field, and hopefully the judges have a monitor with working instant replay so they make sure they get it right the first time...

Howard was creative last year....Jamario obvious he will be...Green doesnt strike me as much of a threat even though he is defending champ...gay...meh dont expect much..

Jamario FTW edging DH out by two points

why are they bringing back Dwight Howard? Didn't last year show that he couldn't come up with a show?

4 participants also makes this dunk contest very weak. I like the fact that they're bringing in Gay and Green but you gotta have some more competition than this.

Well, Kenny Smith said that he likes Rudy Gay to win it. Charles Barkely praised Bryan Colangelo for finding a gem in Jamario Moon and said that Dwight Howard should've won the contest last year. That was pretty much it.

I can't see Dwight doing anything special. What haven't we seen from him? Everything else he had planned has already been seen worldwide on youtube. There's nothing new he can bring to the table. In this day and age, people wanna see new creative dunks. I don't wanna see a 6'11" guy kiss the rim, I wanna see a 360 behind the back. From what looked to be the best contest since 2000, this is now just another NBA SDC (with Green probably repeating with the same old boring dunks).

Are you kidding me?
For one, the reigning dunk champion from last year is back. You know how creative Jmario Moon can be. Rudy Gay is extremely athletic and as far as Dwight Howard can

Dude, I personally would love to see D12 kiss the rim while dunking, that would trump all.

Dwight has a lot of great ideas. He brings originality to the contest. If MJ was a little nicer last year Dwight would've destroyed Gerald Green (and that's saying something). He has the "kiss the rim" dunk and he legitimately hit his head on the rim while practicing, lol. He's gonna bring something this year, trust me.

Thanks a lot man.

Gerald Green is gonna be a lot better this year. He has the alley-oop to himself between the legs dunk in his arsenal which is a guaranteed 50. Rudy Gay is no slouch either, Jamario is gonna have to bring it which I trust he will.

That's just not me. I've see countless vidoes of T-Dub kiss the rim and he's only 5'9".

I can't believe we're getting robbed of seeing Nick Young do 360 behind the backs and 360 between the legs.
