Raptors you have met

Post#1 » by PopAGat » Wed Jan 23, 2008 4:03 pm

- Who are some of the Raptors you have met?
- Where did you meet them?
- Who are they?
- What type of personalities did they have?

Personally I met most of the 05-06 Raptor squad. I met them outside the practice court..which I believe is on the second level.. I've met Bosh as we all know is a good guy. Mike James looked very pissed off when he saw us(me and my friends). Loren Woods was eating noodles. Alex English was a cool guy and was impressed by how much I knew about him while we had our 2 minute convo  . Joey was all in laughs and smiles when he talked to us..cool guy. I met Alvin Williams he was working on his conditioning so I left him alone. Hoffa said a few words. Hoffa was a good guy...not the greatest player but nonetheless still a good guy.

Can't exactly remember EVERYONE but if someone posted the 05-06 roster I'd add more to my post.

P.S. Sorry if a thread was already made on this

I met Darrick Martin at the TTC subway station. He was walking through with some blonde chick, and he only really paid attention when me and my friends yelled out "hey darrick ! who's your chop?" I guess he was somewhat nice, he did sign my friend's jersey and took a picture with a group of us... but he really only turned around to what seemed like showing off.

Carter and Peterson a couple years ago at a Sikh march downtown. Hung with Peterson for a couple hours just showing him around all the floats. Vince stayed for about an hour, put on his happy face and scurried off in his Bentley. Asked Mo about Boogie's progress at the time and he said that he's at or near 100%, we all know how that turned out. Baxter, at yorkdale mall. Stoudamire came to my school a long time ago. That's about it.

Jalen Rose and Morris Peterson at the Brass Rail Champagne Room a few years back.

They both went into a private room quite quickly

Met Rafer Alston in New York before when he was in AND1. He's a very nice guy and I think the headcase thing about him is totally false. He took some pictures and talked to me for about 2-3 minutes. Approachable dude.

I saw Maurizio at a Mississauga Future Shop, as soon as I saw him I knew it was him. I could be wrong, it was probably someone who looked like him. He was looking at PS3 games. I dunno why a 55 year old would look at PS3 games.

JYD- In a Raw is War event in 2002. High fived him a couple of times whenever the fan favourites would win. We all know about JYD.

I wanna meet Jose, TJ, and Bosh. I heard Bosh is very hard to approach and what makes it harder is that I've noticed that you have to yell at people that are like over 6'8 so they could hear you. Dunno about TJ, but I heard Jose is a great guy.

Mamadou N'diaye real quick, years ago. I was at a basketball camp and someone with connections brought him in for autographs. seemed nice.

i received tickets doanted by mo pete to a game a few years back and got to talk to him for a bit before the game. really nice guy, pretty down to earth.

I met vince twice. the first time i met him was at halftime of a game i was accepting a check from the raptors and he and a bunch of other people (i cant remember who) took some pictures at midcourt with me. carter was annoying, he rearranged everyone in the pic so he could get his good side. I met him again about a year later, at the canadian premier of the movie Like Mike. I got to sit next to him. He was quite annoying again, was talking on his phone for part of the movie and was laughing at random times. He wouldn't sign my rookie card of him b/c of endorsment deals with another company so he signed a rondom blue jay shirt i was wearing instead.

I only met one Raptor and it was Chris Bosh. I was at Inside Nightclub for a friends birthday (October 2006). The birthday girl heard he was at the bar, so she went to me and said "Some guy from the Raptors is here, some Chris Bosh guy." My gf and I were like "NO WAY!" and rushed there. When we got there, he was there with a Corona in hand. No one really recognized him until after we got there. Then someone bought him another beer, and someone else bought him a shot of tequila (people were chanting "MVP! MVP! MVP!..." Then we took a picture with him, and I wished him luck in the upcoming season.

Met Loren Woods at Lucid nightclub. Me and my friend spotted him walking by, which wasn't too hard because he was the tallest person in the entire place. I was pretty mashed up and ran up to him...Pretty much just screaming "Hey your Loren Woods" "Have a drink Loren Woods" "Are you F'N drunk Loren Woods". He told me he was ok and to leave him alone. I was a douche I know.

Standing outside Dreams nightclub having a cigarette with my buddies. A group of some big black dudes walked by us in leather jackets about to enter the front door of the club. Then my buddy started screaming ALLLVVVIIN it's Alvin, Alvin Williams. I'm like man shut up it's not Alvin Williams...Not every tall black guy is gonna be Alvin Williams, and stop starting up with random people. Then I turned around and it was Alvin Williams. Ran up to him and asked how his leg was and professed my love for my favorite Raptor of all time.

Later inside the club I was chatting up with him, and he said his knee was fine and the coaches won't let him play. I then asked him what girl he likes, he pointed one out and I approached her, then told her that Alvin Williams is interested in her services..She asked who's Alvin Williams? So I told her to forget it, she doesn't deserve Alvin if she doesn't even know who he is. He found it pretty jokes.

Then finaly at Century Room I ran into Chris Bosh and Darrick Martin. They were with a group of girls that I must admit weren't that attractive. Once everyone recognized them...Everyone ran to Bosh asking for autographs or pictures...So I just went up to Martin cause I kind of felt bad. Had a brief convo with him while we both watched everyone around Bosh...He's a really chilled out guy.

Isiah, way back in the day. He was waiting for a cab outside the Athletic Centre of U of T. I happened to have a Raptors t-shirt, so I got him to sign it. That was cool. Who knew he'd leave the franchise and become the Michael Jackson of basketball.

And, a few years ago, Dee Brown and Alvin Williams at The Drink (upstairs of the Guvernment). This one was bad. I was drunk. And this was soon after the trade for Danny Fortson fell through because Alvin couldn't pass his physical. "Yo Alvin, how's the knee?" I'm such an idiot!!! Dee Brown was with some Filipina hottie.

I met Charles Oakley at a Much Music Video Awards party. He's a monster. He almost sat on Avril Lavine.

Met Bosh at the Queensway Sobey's in the pop aisle in like 2006. Told him I was a huge fan and shook his hand. My wife even got a pic with her camera phone! Really polite dude.

Saw Vince, Alvin, Mo Pete & some other Raptors at Sotto Sotto restaurant in like 2000 (a meal paid for by the company btw). All I remember is that they ordered lots of shrimp and that they really had to duck down because the ceilings are kind of low in that place.

Return to Toronto Raptors
