good stuff on assists and turnovers, etc., but this is the one the leapt out to me:
"Next, consider Jose's amazing shooting efficiency. In the history of the NBA only five players have ever shot over 90% from the free throw line, over 50% from the field, and over 40% from 3-point range for an entire season. That list of players is Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Larry Bird (twice!), Reggie Miller, and Mark Price."
i guess he's not shooting enough

as much as i like jose's play, you can't really credit him too much for the free throw %. he only goes to the line 1.7 times a game.

Do you mean to say that if Jose went more to the line, he'd start missing his free throws?

I wouldn't bet against that actually. Getting to the line takes a little more effort and energy. So if he got to the line on a consistant basis, his FT% might go down. I actually think if he was aggresive as he should be... his % would go down across the board but he would be a better overall player than he is now. I wish he could develop an aggressive mindset cause he has the skills to back him up. But one should never judge anyone soley based on stats. Still very impressive though

I beg to differ...
...more effort & energy (of which JC doesn't seem to lack) would take away your jump shoots (legs), so your game shooting % could go down.
For FT, being more tired has very little importance since legs are not that important.

But he goes to the FT more in the 4th, for example in NO game you can watch CP3 miss his two, and Calderon made the both with a great confidence, really I think, Calderon, Bosh, Parker, even Graham, raptors are a great team in the FT (Less Hump, but he do his job too)

The problem is Calderon has to play more minutes than ever. He can't be overly aggressive because he wouldn't make it through the game.
If/When we get a capable backup Calderon's aggressiveness in going to the hole, will increase drasticly.

He's great! Only problem when compared with those guys is that he is not a game changer. He needs to be more aggressive and shoot more!

I think his percentage would go down if he went there more often. How many guys shoot 90% and go to the line a tonne? Not many. And also the percentage is almost negated by the fact he gets there less than twice a game. Kinda like guys who take 50 3's a season and make 20. It doesn't make them a true 40% shooter.

or before he can play 3 full seasons.

aprox 175 NBA games into his career. He's gonna be very good.

There's some truth in the notion that if Jose had an adequate backup, he would take more risks than he currently does.

Right now, the Raps depend on him. One injury to him and the Raps' season could take a big nose dive. I'm sure Sam has let Jose know that he needs to wary of things like being careful with his foul situation, resting himself as well as possible from game-to-game, etc. so that he can continue to play 40 MPG as long as needed.

Anytime Jose is not on the floor, the Raps are fortunate to just maintain the score, let alone push it more in their favor.

Good point.

Bosh is clearly our best player and probably playing the best ball of this career right now. But if Raptor fans had to choose between losing him or Jose for the next 5 games, I think that the vote would actually go in Jose's favour. I think that we could survive 5 games without CB but with Dixon/Martin around, we'd be utterly screwed losing Jose.

Wow, there must be a lot of hate for Calderon here. We've been presented the fact that Calderon shoots a high percentage, and many are rallying the fact that if he "could contribute more" to the game it would go down.

Shooting over 50% as a pg is very impressive as is 90% free throw regardless of how many times he gets to the line. He has played many games with Ford out, hence he's been to the line a fair bit, so I think that warrants a large amount of time.

Why do people resent this?
