Have the Raptors Found an Identity After This Win?

Post#1 » by zong » Thu Jan 24, 2008 3:57 am

Yes, we made foolish turnovers and still could not rebound, was it a lucky shooting night, or have we finally gotten over the hump to realize we can beat anyone, anywhere?

Some insight from our great RealGMers, if you please :D

I think Parker put it best at the end of the game.

He said something along the lines of... We are the type of team at this point that could beat anyone, but we are also at the point where we could just as easily lose.

This game could be a great turning point for usin my opinion , but we'll just have to wait and see how the next few games play out.

Are you saying that our new identity is don't defend, don't rebound, don't take care of the ball but hit every shot in sight? 8)

Ozzy- I caught that part too, he also mentioned when we're hitting our shots we're unstoppable because everyone knows their spots so well

Calderon and Bosh are consistent and can be counted on to bring it every night. The key to weather or not the Raps can take it to another level is Bargnani. The guy has game breaking talent offensively. If he can consistently add to the foray then the Raps offense becomes hard to beat.

We have. And we have for the past 7-8 games now. We're playing like a wayyy better team. By the end of february/beginning of march our record will show it. Beating Boston was just a big confidence booster.

until we stop losing stupid games to easy teams I'm not going to make any claims of being final contenders, this game made up for the loss against philly.

We're 16-3 against teams with losing records this season. There's not very much that you can complain with that. The Suns and the Warriors both lost to the rock-bottom TWolves this week.

It is easy to get too high over a win against a good team but I am sure that this sort of effort won't hurt the spirit in the dressing room. I am sure the players are aware of their shortcoming in this game re turnovers and boards but the fact they won can be encouraging in spite of poor performances in other areas besides shooting. I am looking forward to catching Barg's follow up game.

Today, it feels like something huge. But soon, everyone will realize, we're not going to shoot this high a percentage come playoff time, when everyone plays a notch or 2 higher.

I think the identity would be a lot clearer if Bargnani played like this consistantly.

He pretty much showed today that if he reaches his potential, he can take over a game and win single handedly against even the best team in the NBA. Don't get me wrong it was a team effort, but without him we wouldn't of won.

Now lets just hope he can keep it up and end up like he has been all season.

Like everyone said, we can keep on winning. If everyone steps up mostly Bosh & Bargs. Bargs just has to be consistantly, if he does that then we are good.

I am giddy about this win as anybody. However, the reality is we cannot expect to win shooting 75% on 3s, giving up 16 offensive rebounds, 56 points in the paint and 20 extra shots to the opposition. Let's enjoy the win, but we got work to do. BC knows this.

If by identity you mean that we shot a ridiculously fluky percentage, played horrible defense, and relied strictly on jump shots all night, then I hope we shed that identity with a quickness.

Although I appreciate the win, how we kept fighting, and the fact we didn't get swept in the season series, etc., this was seriously just a stroke of god-given luck from my perspective. We made so many disgusting mistakes I really can't believe we stole this one away from Boston, in Boston.

As some people say, "the best defense is a good offense" lol. And "a win's a win." :P I'll still take it. GO RAPS!
