I'm checking the standings this morning, and I noticed that New Orleans sits atop the Western Conference, ahead of the big contenders: Phoenix, San Antonio, Dallas and Los Angeles.

I thought that this was all the work of Chris Paul, but checking the roster, I noticed that David West is averaging 20/9 and Tyson Chandler is 12/12.

Amazing story.

By the way, I wonder if there's a way to get Hilton Armstrong off their hands. He's an intriguing talent. They already sold Cedric Simmons for peanuts, so who knows.

It's a youth movement. Charlotte and Portland moving up. San Antonio, Dallas, Phoenix all looking old. Seeing it a bit in the east too with miami and new jersey way down, with orlando, cleveland, and toronto coming on.

Good point. A changing of the guard.

They'd probably only let Armstrong go for a package of a couple of our players, and it would have to be pretty good. They need solid bench depth for the playoffs. Only thing is, I'm not sure who we could trade them outside of Hump. They don't need any more SF's, so I doubt Graham would be attractive, and Jackson is a far better scoring point than Dixon is.

I remember watching Hilton Armtsrong in college, I am not a big fan of his. He can block shots, but he is not very strong and has a very limited offense. I thought his teammate Boone would make a better pro.

Two really important points about Tyson Chandler. First, a lot of the things that have been said about Bargs were said about Chandler over his first five years in the league. Too soft, too many fouls, bad attitude, no feel for the post game, etc. His stats were miserable -- he average almost as many fouls as points five years into the league. Now he's blossoming. Maybe BC knows what he's talking about when he says judge Bargs in five years.
Second point is that Chicago gave up on Chandler and got relatively little in return (unless you think JR Smith is the second coming and that PJ Brown still has legs). Patience is a virtue for a reason.

just thought i'd jump in here... first of all, i dont think you are thinking of Hilton Armstrong (a project bigman, 2nd year outta college)... i think you are thinking of Bobby Jackson (small, bald, fast slashy scorer... veteran that used to play for Sacto in their glory days).

Beyond this though... i think NO is one of the teams that WOULD take the pieces that we are willing to trade - their bench is horrendous, and the coach has even called them out, saying it forces them to ride the starters too much - i mean, the best bench production they are getting is from Jannero Pargo!
I think they would definatley take Hump, Dixon, Graham, Kapono, etc. from us, as they would provide instant scoring and shooting from the second unit - espeically important with the recent woes of NO sharpshooter Rasul Butler. Personally, i think it would be a lateral move at best to trade anyone on our bench for anyone on theirs, but i'm sure that the Hornets would take Dixon or Humphries to bolster their extremely weak bench

Kenny and Charles were ripping on Chicago about that. Kenny said someone in Chicago told him the got rid of him because all he did was rebound, run and block shots. That didn't sound too bad to Kenny and Charles. I think there's a talent evaluation issue in Chicago.

Ah thanks Davkad, I did mean Jackson the second time. The point of my post was still that we want to acquire Armstrong though. He's an athletic guy with a centre's body.

good point... and i might regret saying this, seeing as I am a huge supporter of Bargnani... but after watching Tyson play in Chicago, it is clear to me that he never would have became this player if he stayed there (and he has admitted that much already!)

Some situations just become toxic for a player... the letdown and "bust" talk coming out of Chicago after they traded Elton Brand to draft this young man was just too astounding... Tyson got the reputation of having no hands, no offensive instincts, etc. He developed into a pretty good defensive and rebouding center, but not what they expected or wanted in Chicago... they ran out of patience, and let him go...
Now that he's playing with a real playmaker, and beside a low-post scoring threat in David West it is really freeing him up to run the court like a gazelle, and show off his HANDS and INSTINCT offesnsively in catching alley-oops from CP3 all day.... i mean, they probably lead the league in alley-oops if they kept track of the stat. His offensive game is flourishing, and his defensive play is gonna warrant some DPOY talk in the next five years... Some players just need a fresh start to realize their potential... hopefully it wont be this way for Bargs, because he's too talented to flake out in this league... and i dont want to see him explode with another team's jersey on

Chandler came out of Highschool, so his situation is a little different from Barganani.

Chandler's last season with Chicago was miserable. Partly because he wasn't in shape to start the season and partly because he has lots of health issue that year. The Bulls weren't sure which Chandler they are goig to get and traded him. Remember the Bulls did sign him to a huge contract, but they opt for Ben Wallace instead. I don't remember anyone complaining back then about that; most people thought the Bulls made the right move. Now everyone is a critic on the Bulls.

NO just playing great ball. I've watched some of there games and they just play solid ball for a full 48 minutes.

my 2nd favourite west team.... yaya........ only 4 1/2 games behind the Celtics for the best team in league

And hey, Raps are one for one against N'awlins. But check out Utah - out of the playoffs as thing stand. That's just insane! I was looking at the teams this morning wondering if there was a way to switch one Eastern team to the West and vice versa. Maybe New Orleans and Milwaukee can trade conferences.

San Antonio vs Phoenix will still decide the championship. With Hill and no suspensions it will be awesome. Ginobli is on fire.
