The Guards:
Jose Calderon, Toronto (23-19)
12.1 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 8.5 APG
Calderon gets the honor of being my only selection that will be a first-time All-Star. There are a variety of reasons of why Calderon is deserving (starting with his ridiculous 5.4 assist-turnover ratio and including his attaining the holy trio of percentages with 50-40-90), but the most impressive thing he's done is play Lou Gehrig to T.J. Ford's Wally Pipp. Since Ford went out on December 11 with a neck injury, Calderon has led the Raps to a 11-9 record while upping his points and assists averages to 14.5 and 9.3, respectively.
Wild Cards:
Chris Bosh, Toronto (23-19)
22.2 PPG, 9.2 RPG, 2.2 APG
No, I'm not just taking Bosh because he dressed up like a Texas car salesman and told me to. CB4 earns the nod for ushering in a new era of successful basketball to Toronto post VC15. You can pencil in 20 and 10 next to his name in the scorebook every night, but you might have to use the eraser once in a while and double the numbers as Bosh has three 40-point games so far this season and grabbed 19 rebounds once as well.
I really do think Bosh deserves it more than Pierce but not Butler because of how he is carrying that team since Arenas has been gone. Calderon has been solid but I think Hamilton or Allen will be picked over him.

The two wild cards are a reserve slot, so the writer is saying both would make it if it were up to him.

I think its strange because other than Garnett, there isn't a PF on the team. He picks 2 SF for the forward spots, and that is his mistake.

Did Jose deserve to have his name on the All Star Ballot?
Hell no.
Does Jose deserve to be selected by the coaches to the All Star Game?
Hell yes!

Bosh doesn't deserve to be in the alstar game :S Umm.

Bosh is still MVP of this team... he should be there regardless, especially since he's been playing out of his mind lately

Bosh deserves it more then Jose. Jose's numbers are good, but I'd put Billups, Wade, Kidd, in as guards first, with Allen in the mix as well.
Those stats they put up showed me how overrated Jose's been. 11-9 record? Wow...2 games over 500!!! 14.5/9.3 in what? 40 minutes? TJ was at 15/8 in 29.
One guy gets no respect, the other gets overly praised.

Bosh will easily make the game. All three, Magic, Kenny and Sir Charles all picked him as a reserve no questions asked.
Calderon wasn't even mentioned. In fact just going from memory I don't even know if the three even picked a PG to back up Kidd.

Do these basketball people realize that Bosh has been to the ASG 2x already - once when we were awful and last year as starter?
I really believe sometimes that some folks truly believe that this would be Bosh's first ASG appearance.

Overrated? I must strongly disagree with that. With TJ out if Calderon hadn't stepped up the Raps would be fighting to stay alive in the struggling East this year. Even if Bosh and Andrea had been on their top games, without having Jose doing what he's done the Raps would have struggled to stay afloat in the East. Calderon deserves every bit of praise that he's getting.

How is that overrated? Jose has done it without a back up. TJ always had the confidence of a great back up. Also, Bosh's and APs numbers are up with calderon as a starter.
He's avg 13.8 and 9.9 as a starter. on the season he has 12.1 and 8.5.
Not trying to take anything away from TJ, but don't put jose down, cus what he has done is the only reason we're still above 500.
EDIT: also, we're 11-9 since tj went down...and jose has started 28 games, but i'm not sure our record in those other 8 games

I guess you didn't realize that this article is only talking about the possible reserves. Wade and Kidd are already voted in as starters.

Yeah, I don't think you can blame TJ for Bosh sucking during the early season. He did have that knee injury which killed his shot. It isn't even like Jose is getting him easy baskets either. Just dump it in and Bosh scores now that his legs are under him. If Bosh was healthy, TJ would have been 15/10 (while still only playing 30 minutes) while healthy, and the Raptors would have been over .500.
I don't want to discount what Jose has done, but this board is so vile and hateful to TJ while at the same time praising Jose like he cured cancer and won us 15 games in a row that I can't help but knock him down a peg.
Plus...his defense sucks soooooooo bad. I cringe every time he claps.
