Watch Garnett at 5:25 mark of Game in 6 Minutes

Just as a basketball fan, I noticed what Garnett did at about the 5:25 mark was pretty much what basketball was like in the 90's and 80's ... it's interesting to see refs let this kind of play get away on occasions, but then again, I guess this is what a lot of ex-players mean when they say the league has gone "soft" nowadays by saying that not enough players do that.
You'll notice garnett elbow Calderon to buy the recipient of the pass more time and space and you'll also see garnet set a "90's screen" on Parker.
I'd provide the link but it's a popup so just go to raptors.com to watch it.

Good eyes and mind. Sadly 98 percent of the posters on the Raptors board will have NO idea what you're talking about.

good eye, didn't notice it until you mentioned it. Those are fouls by today's standards/rules and I think you may have a point. May also be because it was the last play in a close game and used by one of the nba's superstars so the refs didn't want to disrupt the momentum of the game. The first screen wasn't as blatant as the second, the second should've been called lol.

I would be all for that type of play again if the refs let it go for all teams, but when I first saw that play, I immediately thought to myself "Anyone but Boston, and KG" would have gotten called on that.
Like I said though, let it go for all teams/players, and I would be happy.

I noticed that around 5:06 of the same video, after Allen sinks a shot Eddie House goes up to Calderon and says something and claps his hand.
And after Jose gets his and 1 basket and falls down, he yells something at Boston's bench where Eddie House is standing.
After Ray Allen misses the final shot, you can see Eddie House throwing his headband on the ground and walking away at 5:39 mark
and if you follow Calderon with your eyes, you can see him in the background yelling at House as he walks by.
Just found this funny.

If Garnett had a bigger body and/or better technique, he could set a legal, clean pick and wouldn't have to resort to that type of dirty, cheap play.

I'm getting the impression lately that Calderon talks a lot of smack out there...

I'm all for physical, hard-nosed play, but it should be when both opponents are engaged in it, such as a low-post battle for positioning, not like what Garnett did, which was basically a cheap shot that the opposition was blind-sided by. That's not tough, that's cheap.

I absolutely
hate Eddie House. He's a pretty sh*tty basketball player but talks more smack than anybody on his team. He waits until Ray, Paul or Kevin makes a big play then starts running his mouth.
I'd love to punch that guy in the face.

I think he's just returning the favor. I think it's more likely that a lot of players talk smack to Jose cuz they can't believe they're getting embarrassed by a Euro dude.

Anyone who is a TJ Ford Superfan clearly has superior knowledge of the game compared to the rest of us common folk.

yep...I have respect for pretty much the whole Celtics squad save for him and maybe Posey, but at least he's a decent player.

I think it was Calderon who hit a bucket from the corner and hopped around to the Celtics bench and smiled. He's probably a big **** talker.
