Jason Kidd - any interest?

I'm not looking at potential trades (this is not for the trade forum) even though his large contract requires some big names going in return.

I'm wondering whether with TJ out indefinitely there would be any interest in him. He is obviously not the same JK that kicked our asses last year and can't produce all-star calibre performances every night, but would he not make a great back-up. And if Calderon is going to become your long term PG, would 1.5 years with JK giving pointers not be the ultimate in training? And the best part is that his massive $$ comes off the books for the 2009 season that everyone talks about.

So he would leave a starting situation to another team to come off the bench? Who do you propose we trade to get him?

HORRIBLE!!!!

We don't have the contracts to match with enough talent to send back to the Nets.

Plus with Ford and Calderon already, we have no room for Kidd and his large contract.

The nets are sinking and kidd has expressed the wish to get out. Besides the Celtics who can't make this trade, there are not playoff contenders that would take him on as a starter. He would probably only want to go to a team that will make the playoffs since this is probably his next to last year.

As for being able to make the trade, it would require both Ford and Rasho to work. I think Ford is plenty of return talent. Todays papers discuss how his value at this point is almost nothing.

I have a feeing Kidd with end up in Dallas or L.A, maybe Cleveland but I doubt it.

Unless your willing to part with Bosh. There is no chance of this even being talked about.

Chi or LA might go for him...
Not a chance for him to be a Raptor.

there is no way the Nets would entertain the Raptors even if they have any interest...they won't trade Kidd to an Atlantic Division team

If the raps offered Calderon, the Nets would consider it.

Jason Kidd is pretty much averaging a triple double, there's no way he'd go to any team and sit on the bench.

Kidd as a backup? You're DEFINITELY under-appreciating his value. Yes, he's older. Yes, he's not a great shooter. But he's still arguably a top 5 point guard, if not top 3.

I think Cleveland has what it takes to get him and use him as a starter.

A team like Orlando might want Kidd, but I dont think they'd give up Rashard Lewis for him (and obviously not Howard - and a package revolving around Turkoglu wont cut it).

But if Kidd is traded, he's definitely gonna be a starter. Even if he came to the Raps, I'd start him over Calderon. But we have NOTHING to offer - and I doubt the Nets would want to trade him in the same division.

Kidd just made the all-star team...Sure he is past his prime but he's not THAT bad that he needs to be a bench player backing up someone (he's still averaging a triple double after all), and he knows it himself. There's no way he would accept a bench role after running a team in New Jersey.

EDIT: Also, aside from Nash and maybe Paul, there are no other point guards in this league who can have the positive effects on his team that Kidd has. Think about how many big contracts he has gotten for players who didn't deserve it? In fact just look at what he is doing to Josh Boone right now, he's averaging almost a double double for the past month. Players like this don't belong on the bench.

I'm just waiting for the day someone asks for a trade, and we don't have a thread on our board about it, lol.

Seriously, J Kidd is like the worst possible match for our team of people wanting out condsidering he's an all star, we would have to trade a ton of good players to match his $20 million salary. He wants to win now, and he doesn't make us much better since he plays the same position we're already the strongest at without addressing any of our weakness's like the wings, and defense, and rebounding in the middle.

Baiscally you want to pay JK 20 million, and loose a ton of players so Kidd can train Calderon, and back him up. wtf.

Those are the top 3 suspects....

Bulls are interested but Kidd wants a contender & Bulls cant be considered anything close

However, Bulls CAN get involved as a third team. Ben Wallace would have to be involved but all those teams can use Ben come playoff time - including NJ. Bulls also have PGs to give NJ to replace Kidd: Duhon, Hinrich or Gordon.

I'd like to see him in Portland. Maybe something like Webster, Jack, Lafrentz, and next year's first for Kidd? Portland usually plays at a slow pace, but Kidd could speed it up a little. Kidd-Roy-J.Jones-Aldridge-Pryzbilla is a pretty damn good starting line-up.

Do you think that a package of Gibson, Gooden and 2 first round picks would be enough for Kidd?

I wonder how bad Kidds Migranes would get if he got traded here.
