last five games, 17 points and five boards. career high tonight. looking good off the dribble as well as shooting. what do you think?

Only way that Bargnani can consistently play this good is if Bosh defers to him, which isn't going to happen.

He looked comfortable and confident. If he can keep it up and then TJ returns we have a really solid team.

It's more a coaching thing than a Bosh thing, which goes to show how much you truly understand.

He played well tonight, and Bosh wasn't deferring to him- he took plenty of shots, he just wasn't hitting.

bosh's numbers haven't been bad last five games

He's played well in 4 of his last 5.

I think he might be there, but I'm not totally sure. I hope to hell he is though.

I agree. Not as much about the 'deferring', but that they both can't have a good outing on the same night. I'm always telling people that. If you see Bargnani get a 20 point night, you'll see Bosh have a rather bad outing, shooting maybe 40% and making 4-6 turnovers. When Bosh has good nights, Bargnani is okay at best.

Exactly what? He's been consistent for the last 5 games... that's one good game after another.

He looked confident tonight, drove a lot and really aggressively attacked the basket. Sam's really got a way with young raw talents. We just have to be patient and let Sam do his thing to develop Bargs. Anyone notice the calls he usually got called for weren't called tonight? Stupid refs

he still looks horrible on weak side defense but i'm so relieved to see someone on the team look determined to get to the freakin basket that i can forgive him those lapses (for the moment)

like during the boston game? the fact that they don't have big nights together has nothing to do with deferring. if bosh hit some shots and got to the line tonight they would've both had solid outings. it's just a coincidence that bargnani has good games when bosh doesn't. for one bosh has had bad games even when bargnani has been crap. and bargnani hasn't had many good games this season. if bargnani can start to play like this consistently then we'll see many more of the big 2 having good games together and we'll probably win more games.

One difference that I have noted: Sam has been taking Bargs out 7-8 minutes into the first quarter, and then re-inserting him when Bosh leaves. That's something that he did not do earlier in the season, and IMO allows Bargs a little more offensive freedom on the court...and saves us from the dreaded Rasho/Homefries frontcourt. A good adjustment, and one that seems to be working thus far.

I did say that it didn't have much to do with deferring.

And I dont think it's a coincidence. The fact that people can only refer to one or two games through the 40+ we've played, to argue that both Bosh and Bargnani can play well in the same game, is quite weak. We'll see by the end of the year if the number of examples can reach 5. Until then, I stick with my theory-thingy.

Smitch needs to run some plays for Bargnani.

Get him running off screens and playing of a more mid-ranged game, Bargnani will not be a consistent low post presence for at least a couple seasons.

Right now Smitch occassionally throws him a bone with a post up, which is not his strength, he has been limited to playing pick and pop either shooting threes or faking and driving, he does really nothing else in games. This off-season he needs to focus on hitting the mid-ranged jumper coming off screens and cuts, as well as adding to his low-post game. His defense and rebounding (well... maybe not his rebounding) has improved a lot over the season, and will come with time.

We need a go to secondary scorer and Bargnani should be the answer.
