God that was horrible segment, I counted 3 times that Sherm was doing his video analysis over live game action, maybe it was extra frustrating with the Raptors playing so poorly but good god if you want to analyze video highlights don't do while there is actual game going on.

Haha I know that was ridiculous. Just really stupid by the Raps broadcasting team. What are they thinking?

OMG I wanted to throw something on my TV. That was horrible. They came with something fancy to improve broadcast, but it was a miss.

Sounds like your typical Hoffa defense, "well yeh Hoffasucked but at least he was trying out there". Look one time is understandable, but they they cut into game action every time Sherm tried to do his highlight package. At some point the production guys should have realized the time constraints.

Meh... I'm used to missing plays on Raptor telecasts. I was disappointed though I didn't get as many zoom-ins on expressionless faces of players on the bench and Sam Mitchell.

They desperately need a producer who is an actual basketball fan --- please, please.
What could they be thinking to shrink the actual game to a little square on the side of the screen so we can't see what we tuned in to see. And meanwhile Sherm is yammering on and on with some irrelevant musings of his own. Totally outrageous.
All three of us just yelled: Shut up, Sherm --- and muted it until the game came back.
We always consider "Sherm's Terms" as the perfect symbol of how hokey a network Raptors TV is --- now this expanded version of Sherm's Terms is actually threatening to take over the game. It's like some kind of weird horror show plot.

I personally don't mind having "a game within a game" as long as they get someone else doing it, OTHER THAN SHERM

I would even love it if they brought back an ex-raptor (JYD anyone?) to help with the commentating

I thought it was okay. Focused in on some defensive aspects that were otherwise left untouched by the play by play guys.

He also criticized Bargs on his failure to close in on Lamar on a particular play (when everybody else was riding Barg's jock).

I agree that the live action shouldn't have been put in such a small box but for a first time thing, it was pretty innovative. I liked it.

Hey Stallion, looks like its me and you in defense of this thing!

I thought the segment was great. It was technical - it actually treated the viewers like they knew basketball. The lack of depth in a typical raptors telecast is frustrating, so adding some solid analysis was a breath of fresh air.

That being said, taking away from the live action was a poor choice. Keep the Game-in-a-Game, but figure out how to fit it into breaks in the action.

They already cut into half the game with late replays, and bench and coach shots.. Now they decide to add some stupid, boring analysis nobody will listen to, and make the actual live gameplay a small iPod size box while the game is actually airing? How about waiting until the game is actually finished...Bunch of f****** morons... I'm used to this third rate crap but this is too much...

The main thing I don't like is how much emphasis they put into analyzing the game, and storylines..basically off the court action.. What they don't realize is that most fans tune in to watch the actual game, if they want to show drama they can air Lost or 24 after the game... But please show the goddamn game while it is airing, without missing certain plays... its not hard, just copy ESPN or TNT...

And Chuck is totally clueless when it comes to what is actually happening on the floor.. I'm at home and see the ref make a call, Chuck is 15 feet away and he doesn't know what the hell is going on...usually when he's deep into his philosophical conversations with Leo he misses key plays, and often he's the last one to know what the call was.. The ref calls a travel, Chuck goes "Yeah I know you love Dick Leo, blah blah blah...and there's a foul...wait a minute, they called a travel!!? Whats going on Leo?"

It actual talked like a normal basketball fan which wasn't so bad. There were sometimes where he was like "Bargnani comes down the floor...stops and shoots a three. That's a good play" but there were some interesting points on help defense and closing out shooters. It was sort of rewarding the Raptor fans who don't need to get spoon-fed like a hockey fan. Keep in mind, there's a small basketball audience for games so a lot of people watching are big time fans who don't need Chuck and Leo to break down things simply.

The split screen with the game was awful though.

final grade: 70
