OT - Lakers best on paper?
Come playoff time, assuming all current injuries have healed and no new injuries arise, I believe the Lakers are the best team, at least on paper, in the whole league.
PG: Fisher, Farmar
SG: Bryant, Vujacic, Walton
SF: Odom, Ariza, Radmanovic
PF: Gasol, Turiaf
C: Bynum, Mihm
Wow, no? The preceding is just a brief of their depth; there are numerous players on that roster who can either play both 2/3 (Ariza, Walton), 3/4 (Odom, Radmanovic) or 4/5 (Gasol, Turiaf). I doubt, come playoffs, much of their bench will get heavy minutes, but, it's a quality bench nonetheless.
There are 3 guys on that team that can go for 20 & 10 (Gasol, Bynum, Odom), additional to a guy who can go off for 50, any night, with ease. I've always loved the Lakers, mainly 'cause I love Bryant, ergo, my euphoric state comes as no surprise.
Anyone think anyone else is the best, at least on paper?

Celtics Starting 5 still comparable to lakers to be honest
Rondo vs Fisher
Allen vs Kobe
Pierce vs Odom
Gasol vs Garnett
Bynum vs Perkins
The difference maker though is Bynum. He is so much better than Perkins.

Fisher > Rondo.
Kobe > Allen.
Odom < Pierce, though it's not a pouncing.
Garnett > Gasol, again, not a pouncing.
Bynym r*pes Perkins, easily.
*Laker bench destroys Celtic bench. It is comparable though, no doubt.

Hmmm, I wonder if Stern had a hand in that totally one-sided Gasol deal?
Nevertheless, a part of me wants to see Kidd traded to the Lakers. That would be a killer series.
In all honesty, at this point, I'd rather have Gasol than Kidd. Can you think of a better PF-C combo than Gasol-Bynum?
Both are 20 & 10 players. . .
I'd would LOOOVE to see a Celtics-Lakers Final!

Iverson, Carmelo and Camby is a beasty 3some.
Camby > Bynum(right now)
Carmelo> Gasol
Kobe>Iverson
You can't compare Carmelo to Gasol as they don't play the same position. Moreover, the Lakers have 4 All-Star-esque players. I say this despite hating Odom, greatly. This is all additional to the fact that they have the most complete offense-defense player in Kobe, who may quite possibly be the greatest offensive specimen to ever play a game.

Obviously im comparing them not by position, but by talent/value etc.

Odom has been playing like dog-crap lately. Laker fans are actually quite mad at him.

The lakers are going to be contenders for a while. I think the power in the west over the next few years is going to shift towards the Lakers, Hornets, Portland and GSW. Phoenix will still be in there and probably Dallas. Tough conference
Jose "Hammy" Calderon - where Gatorade at the half clouding rational judgment happens, and where "hamstring" injuries linger all season long.

Lakers ...2007-08 champions! book it
Celtics comparable to Lakers??
rondo vs fisher
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME RONDO MADE A BIG SHOT? The kid's never even played a playoff game....maybe in intramurals
Ray vs Kobe
kobe can DOUBLE what ray does for the celtics on any given night. I know ray always beats us with buzzer beaters....but seriously...thats nothing compared to kobe.
PP vs Odom
Odom hasnt played well this season (after injury)...but by playoffs time, he should be back in form.
Garnet & Perkins vs Bynum & Gasol
Garnet is great and all. but he cant cover both guys... and we all know Perkins is just there to fill up the 5th spot....its not like they expect him to contribute.
Bench:
Boston has...posey..house...posey ....house...and oh yea..the almighty 'tony allen'.. and a few more pylons to train KG in practices
Lakers have...Luke walkton.... ariza.....farmar...turiaf...radman..vujacic...and chris mihm..their former starter at C....
but ofcourse...none of those guys stay healthy....so lets say boston's bench = laker's bench in strength.
and so we can come to a conclusion that Fisher owns rondo....kobe owns ray....odom and PP are abt the same....and KG wont be able to defend both bynum and gasol....while having a similar bench.
LAKERS : 2007-08 championss....am i the only one that can see a 3peat here?? just in time for the raps to win afterwards too. =D

Like I'd said in my post, I hate Odom, but, I won't deny his talent/value. Simply put, he can be a 2nd option (as he was). This season, he's had a redefined role (3rd option) and has still averaged 13 & 10.*
Additionally, at 6'10", he's fast enough to guard most SFs in the league.
*Approximate figures.
