Is this our best team ever?

Post#1 » by raptor21_85 » Sat Feb 2, 2008 6:26 pm

We have the best PG combo on TJ and Calderon
One of the best Forwards on Bosh
and if he keeps on playing and improving, we got a good player in bargs
And the importance on Experience for the Playoffs

We have great W
at San Antonio
at Boston
at New orleans

tougher teams

Our team is the Future

are you that bored?

I'd take T-Mac + Vince duo anyday however.. that team itself had massive potential.

No I think the team with Vince, MoPete, AD, Oakley, JYD, Alvin, Keon, Curry, Childs was better fit to go further in the playoffs.

The team that got us the farthest in the playoffs was the best.

We NEED a star small forward.

And Parker probably has one more year after this season before he starts declining. Need someone to take his place.

Gerald Wallace would've been ideal....

It will be our best. That Vince team won ONE playoff series, thats it. This team will match that this year and hopefully build on that next year.

I think this is pretty close to our best team ever but you'd never know it by reading these forums.

I think on paper, our strongest team was the one that got swept by the Knicks when Vince layed an egg. TMac was rounding into shape giving us a 2nd weapon but Vince completely choked in the playoffs. The following years team won more games and went further in the playoffs but I don't think they had as much talent (TMac and Christie were gone).

I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

Yeah, the VC team was the best one to watch. It put the Raps on the map, and I had a lot of confidence in a man who could take over a game at will, during his earlier years. Plus they were much more entertaining to watch.

The VC vs. AI dual was one of the best playoffs battle between two players I have ever seen.

Until we see what they can do in the playoffs, I'd still have to go with the team that took Philly to game 7 in round 2. This team definitely has the potential to be as good or maybe better after TJ comes back but really, IMO it is too fickle and copuld win against any team and then turn around and lose to anyone.

I agree. If Vince had hit that shot, we probably would've beaten Milwaukee and been in the finals.

I agree to an extent, but in terms of the development "arc" of a team, that Vince team was at its apex. He was at his best and they had veterans who were helping the team but had little time left in terms of being productive NBA players. In spite of all of this that team only won a single playoff series and then derailed. I've gotta think that when this incarnation of the team hits its peak, it will be more successful than that. Perhaps that Vince team wins a best of 7 series against this team as it stands at this moment (which I guess is the question at hand) but this will be the better team, I feel very comfortable in saying that.

This team is one TJ Ford and one gritty big man away from being a better team than any in Raptors history by a longshot.

This team will be our best regular season team with 49 wins as my prediction.

But, our best team in the playoffs is still the team that lost to the Championship Sixers in Game 7 of the 2nd round.

I think within two years, we'll have a playoff team better than that team.

Perhaps I'm not being fair but I think people put too much stock in the fact that the Vince team beat a mediocre Knicks team and then "almost beat" a one-man Philly team in the playoffs during a year in which the Eastern Conference was at perhaps its weakest (which is saying a lot). I agree that if he made that shot they probably would have made the finals but in a sense that is an even greater indictment of the state of the conference at that point...

Best regular season team is a possibility. Best team overall? No way. It's a toss-up between the 2001 or 2002 (with a healthy Vince) teams. It'll be a long time before we assemble the type of talent that was on the 2000-2002 teams, as players like Vince pre-injuries don't come along very often. Those teams were built for the playoffs, even though they lost to superior teams. Had Vince stayed healthy in 2002, I still think that team would have beaten Detroit in the 1st round (we almost beat them with only role players).

If the current Raptors can add a borderline all-star wing player, then it's looking good. But the team the way it's currently assembled is a one and out team with a good regular season record.

That 2002 team went 12-2 immediately after Vince went down with an injury and they made the playoffs by one game. I don't think its a stretch to say that they don't even make the playoffs that year with a healthy Vince. It was one of the all-time great examples of the "Ewing Theory" at work.

carter with an expiring contract, thats the best raps team, if t mac didnt leave, they would of went to the finals for sure and had to deal with shaq daddy.

thats y I m not so much into this raps team, raps still need another star player thats play SG or SF, if raps were in the western conference they woulnt even make the playoffs.
