I propose to run this thread through the year to display our SUPERSTAR PG.

Forderon Game 1 since TJ

After seeing how good Calderon is as a starter, once Forderon is back is full effect, the Ford vs Calderon will be worse than before on this board. Especially when Smitch puts TJ back in the starting lineup after a few weeks. I on the other hand am just to happy to have not 1 great PG but 2.

As much as I hate it, the arguments will start up again....and there is nothing you can do about it.

Problem is, it is almost justified now. Because it has been proven that Calderon can run the point succesfully...and we all know Ford can do it too.

I can actually see this becoming a problem on the team not just here. The only way to solve it is alternate starters each game, or with matchups.

I got in an argument with my housemate about this one - I called that TJ would be starting before the end of February. He disagreed, hahaha.

That being said, with both of them in the lineup, we're gonna get 48 minutes of outstanding PG play. It's great news for the Raps!

I hope we don't start a big Forderon debate. We see how crucial both of these guys are to our success. Just look at the Spurs and see that Manu Ginobili comes off the bench, even though he is an all-star calibre player. Similar situation here. You know what, I'll admit it, I thought it was a good idea to trade one of them, but now, I believe neither should be dealt. To win a championship, you need that one guy you can count on comin' off the bench. The Spurs have Ginobili, the Heat had Gary Payton and Antoine Walker, the Lakers had Ron Harper in those three-peat championship days. The Bulls had Toni Kukoc...so it I think these are guys who can start but came off the bench for the good of team. Whether it be Jose or T.J., we need that guy we can trust on the bench.

The problem with that is these two guys can't play on the floor at the same time. Manu may come of the bench but he gets plenty of minutes with Parker and Duncan and is always there in the crunch.

TJ and Jose at the same time doesn't happen and nor should it because neither can cover an NBA SG. We should trade one, not this season, but by next season I expect we will have one of either Ford or Calderone running this team on their own. I am glad I am not the one who has to make the choice because both are great PGs. If it were up to me, I would probably let the market decide and shop both around and trade the one that gets us the best player in return.

it seems reasonable that next season, or the one after that, we will have a decent backup PG reliable enough to play 10-15 minutes to rest the then starter PG. The other ones will be a tremendous core asset for a trade for a good/great 2 or 3, with a net improvement of the team.

but i doubt we can keep them both if they continue to grow, and even if we could, we should just cash in on the 'investment' at some point.

Meh who cares about starting,TJ or Jose. It's all about who finishes better. But none of the PG's are concerned with the numbers. Their number 1 goal is to win.

I'm going to miss seeing Dixon play, he was actually improving and has a pretty good basketball IQ.

Lets hope that continues to be true. They've both been pretty good about the time share up until now, but it remains to be seen how much tension will be caused by either Jose's demotion to back-up or TJ's not being given back his starting job (whichever ends up being the case).

IMO the real tension isn't really about who starts anyway, but about who finishes the game. When they were both healthy the Smitch was still going with the hot hand to finish the game, and I expect that to continue, regardless of who starts. If one guy ends up being the go to finisher in most games that could very easily up the tension ante in a big way. I'm going to cross my fingers and hope that everything keeps on an even keel for the rest of this season anwyay and the team can move into the offseason with some real strength on the trade market.
