One would think that Rasho's trade value has increased. We all know about his contract that expires at the end of next season, but he's also a decent big.

The West is going big again and I wonder if playoff contenders are looking for a big to add to their line-up to match up against the Shaqs, Yaos and Gasols in the West.

Does Rasho have more trade value this season or next season?

I say next season because his contract comes of the books.

Next. Who's going to have interest?? The Lakers, Spurs, Mavs, Nuggets, and Suns all have their big men. The Hornets and Celtics don't have the contracts to make anything work. I doubt anyone else cares about getting someone who can take on the big men of the West.

If Rasho exercises his player option for next year @ 8.4 million, then yes his trade value comes into play next year. He's going to be 32 this coming May, and I expect he will exercise the 8.4 million option for next year.

I don't think Colangelo will have many teams inquiring about Rasho this season, but next year he will be a valuable trade commodity.

Rasho is going to be a very valuable piece @ the draft and the 08-09 trade deadline. There's no reason to move him now.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and if some team is desperate enough they may bite.

But IMO very unlikely. Who still needs a big? GS, Utah?

Rasho is valuable in the west playoff picture as a smart consistent C able to outwit and battle with most of the powerful bigs. Heck the Raps used him for that primary reason and I see Utah, GS, Dallas, NO, and to some extent the Spurs or Blazers having interest in Rasho for the playoffs.

POR has Oden(if healthy) for next season. They don't need a rental, they already have the Vanilla Gorilla.

I think any team that is trying to rebuild will definitely try to make a run at Rasho for his expiring contract. Right now, possibly the only teams that might pursue rasho are any of the lottery teams. And if Miami does the shaq trade, they definitely need help up front for short term and would go for rasho. If Isiah is smart, they could try to make a run for rasho too next season. The knicks salary situation is horrible.

Utah already has Millsap off the bench, I'm not so sure they need Rasho. BUT, you can bet the Jazz would love to get rid of AK's contract, and Rasho could be enough to entice them. Of course we'd have to sweeten the pot. Rasho, Dixon, and Graham works in the trade checker

But then we'd have a glutton of wings and not enough frontcourt depth. It's too bad the Jazz already traded for Korver, because Rasho and Kapono for AK works.

We're missing the point by looking at who needs a center. Rasho may be pretty valuable as a big man (underrated, probably), but he's way more valuable to other teams as cap relief. If he gets traded, that'll be the reason.

Kapono + Rasho to NO for Peja (why Rasho's contract expires same time as CP3)

Kapono + Rasho to Utah for AK47 (why Rasho's contract expires same year as Williams)

Are the best fits I could think of as both teams elite PGs expire the same time Rasho does allowing either team to direct Rasho's $ to the PG. Kapono provides a scoring threat from outside and would benefit from playing with the great PGs. Both NO and Utah have very good / great bigs for Rasho to compliment as he did with the Spur's Duncan.

Bottom line is the Raps have 14+ Mil sitting on the bench and both players are considerable assets who provide very specialized roles Kapono's shot + Rasho's Big Man negation.

Peja or AK would be a definate upgrade at the SF for the Raps in the starting line up allowing Moon to provide the spark from the bench.

I do not see Peja as an upgrade over Kapono at all... Kapono's value will increase dramatically to our team if he plays with TJ due to the drive and kick game. AK is good - but I don't see Utah making that trade - unless McHale is now running the show there.

The Utah deal wouldn't happen because they already have Korver as there Kapono.

I'm high on getting Artest and Jackson on the team. We could be looked in a whole new way. We'd be vicious. We get the Defense and aggressiveness from both of them. Bargnani,Parker,Moon, Delfino suddenly go from jumpshooters to drivers....AND shooters.


Win-Win situation.


Rasho could help alot of teams at the C position. For example the Suns. Theres a reason why the Suns get torched by the Spurs. Its because of Duncan and Amares crap defense. With Rasho playing Duncan then I think its a whole new situation. Now its harder for Duncan to score which then leads to the other San Antonio players like parker, ginobili to step up their game. Just having Rasho's inside presence will make it hard for teams to drive.
