There is always a ton of talk about getting a banger/bruiser for the Raptors, and I don't here much about Reggie Evans. What are people's opinion on a guy like that? 3 more years at about 5 million per, but he is a beast.

He has that edge we need on the Raptors as someone off the bench who will just get in there and get under peoples skin, while *rebounding*, which I think we need more than a SF.

I know an issue is the fact that he is a PF, is that the main reason he would not be considered? Not sure if he could play Center with Bosh...anyway

While its true that the Raptors could use someone with the qualities of a Maurice Evans, if they are going to acquire someone, it would need to be someone good enough to displace players above them on the depth chart - and Evans isn't that good.


Having said that, I still question the assumption.

04-05 - 5.2
05-06 - 2.6
06-07 - 3.0
07-08 - 2.0

If anyone can tell me what these numbers are and why they are significant, they get a gold star.

He'd be useful against the Clippers to play on Kaman.

He'd be like the new Charles Oakley then?
But I still think Artest would be a better option. He is a SF so there would be no questions as to where he would fit, plus he can score.
However it would be easier to acquire Evans, and if it were for the right price I think it could work.

How old is he and does he have any injury history?

I don't think he'd get the time to put up the numbers he's putting up in philly, since we're really pushing Andrea's post game theres at least 30 minutes a game dedicated to him and then another 30 to bosh, that leaves another 18 minutes at PF and 18 at C, if we could swing a deal that involved Humphries I wouldn't mind taking him, because I love the way the guy plays, but otherwise theres no real room in our big man rotation to get him in.

we need to ditch RASHOs MONSTER contract and pick up a strong Board grabbing Vet!!!

All the guy does is rebound (off his own missed fg attemps). He can't defend or score... we can do better/must if we're going to take the next step.

how short we are on rebounds per game, we could use some more boards

He averages only 24 minutes in philly...and he starts. He wouldn't start for us and would likely play what 18-20 minutes a night much like he played throughout previous seasons in his career.

I don't think his numbers would fall very much. If anything they would increase because nobody else is grabbing boards. He has no Sammy D to compete with.

I look at last year with his 7.0 board in 17 minutes. The guy can do something for us even in limited time. He would definitely be someone who would have to replace hump in the rotation though, so hump would maybe have to go the other way in a trade.

Fact is, 5 million a year might be a bit much for someone playing under 20 minutes a game.....cough *Kapono* cough...aside from that, his offense is terrible, but we have enough scorers all over the roster to make up for it.

I agree Maurice Evans isn't that good. What qualities does Maurice possess that the Raptors could use?

I guess he is not the best fit....I just really want a guy like Oakley to come back, guy was tough as nails and got the job done. I think I just try and see Oakley in other guys.....hoping. Oh well.

Evans is no Oakley, don't fool you.

Oakley had a consistent jump shot, Evans is an offensive liability. He could help but he's a little overpaid for what he brings.
