Stackhouse talks too soon
The NBA will investigate the possibility the Mavericks and Stackhouse violated league rules with a prearranged agreement for the forward to return to Dallas after reaching a contract buyout in New Jersey and sitting out the 30-day waiting period, sources said.

It's almost like the Mavs are cursed to never win that championship trophy. Doesn't it?

Stern and Cuban get along, they'll work things out.

This trade just keeps getting crazier as the days go on.

And who said the NBA was losing its appeal! Just when I thought I couldn't get a bigger laugh then I did a couple days ago. Silly me.

Haha. I'm sure they do.
Anyways... I wasn't aware that talking about a future buyout n such was against league rules. I just thought you needed to wait a month or somethng.

Yea, I was pretty surprised when I read about Stackhouse saying what he was saying. Even if you are allowed (or aren't), why would you reveal it?
The whole Stackhouse side of this trade sounded really fishy to me from the get-go. I assume that since he went public with it, it means this kind of thing is indeed allowed.. but it's just weird to me. It's like they're using a loophole to get around salary cap trade restrictions.

It's not allowed. Stackhouse is just an idiot for saying that in public and making it blatantly obvious when they probably could have gotten away with it.
The NBA doesn't allow such prearranged agreements. The rest of the league is required to have a fair chance to sign Stackhouse in the 30 days before he is eligible to re-sign with the Mavericks.

LOL
Watch Disco snap and demand out this offseason if everything falls through. That would make me laugh even harder. I dislike that team immensely.
The Mavs can be such idiots when it comes to keeping their mouths shut, and it all starts at the top.

It would be funny if NJ just didn't buy him out and kept him.

I was just thinking that. "yeah, we'll buyout stackhouse. deal."
NOT!

Isn't that allowed in the rules though? It's a bit of a loophole & I can understand how the league wouldn't want that to get out, but it's not like they're violating the rules by doing that.

The Fates are conspiring to prevent Cuban from making one of the most boneheaded trades in recent memory. Somehow, I doubt that he will take the hint.
