Would Colangelo be interested in Nocioni?

Post#1 » by Test of Wills » Fri Feb 15, 2008 4:22 pm

Watching the Bulls-Miami game yesterday and observing Nocioni was really interesting. His shooting percentages of 42% from the field or 36% from 3 don't really stand out but he gets to the line and is really aggressive. Shamsports has him staying put with Bulls for 6 years about 7-8 million. I think he has what we need toughness, rebounding, defense and getting to the line. Numbers this year: 14.9 ppg 4.9 rpg 6+ trips to the line a game. And with Luol Deng being the future SF there and wanting to sign a big contract along with Ben Gordon the Bulls might be willing to unload some contracts.
Do you you guys think he could be a possibility at the SF spot?

I used to really like him, however, he has been exposed as slow footed on defense... I like him - but for 7-8 mil I'd like to see what else may be available.

I shudder at the thought of him and Delfino chucking threes.
why was hakeem called "the dream"??"

Because it rhymes with 'Olajuwon'.

BC was apparently interested in Nocioni earlier this year, in the off-season, when he was a restricted FA with the Bulls.

But after signing a rather large contract, I dont think BC cares much for him anymore.

I am hoping BC doesn't resign Chuckfino this off-season every game I see him in he has the ball with Bargs in the post against a smaller guy and he fully just throws the ball in the air. At least Nocioni attacks the lane more than he chucks and has toughness in him. Delfino is a reason why Bargs has regressed this season.

Yes he would but I'm not sure a deal with the Bulls would be possible unless a third team absorbed some of the junk we'd be giving to try to land him.

I hear you, how is it EVEN possible that Bargs got the PG defending him 2 possessions in a row after a switch and he didn't get the ball down in the post, If I was Bargs I would have been letting my teammates know during the next TO!

Re Op: I don't think Nocioni is what the Raps are needing most right now.

Nocioni is a bad defender and an inefficient scorer. Even with his declining contract, I would be loath to part with much for the right to pay him through 2012.

I remember the ball being passed around the perimeter so I'd blame the whole team for not recognizing the mismatch.

LOLZ @ blaming Delfino on Bargs' regression

Nocioni is not a bad defender. I would consider him above average for sure.

TO trade for him it would have to be a pretty large deal given that he is a BYC player.

Another Euro? This team needs to find a hard-nosed player and shift their identity from being a bunch of nice guys who can shoot to a team that's willing to play in the trenches. Nocioni's only aggressive for a Euro.

Nocioni has a reputation as a solid defender, but most Bulls fans will gladly tell you that he is overrated in that capacity; he's a tweener that can't stay with athletic SFs, and is not strong enough, or a good enough rebounder, to play PF adequately.
