Saturday Events: Kapono With a Record Tying Win; Dwight Wins

Post#1 » by Schad » Sat Feb 16, 2008 4:19 am

By popular demand, I'm going to create a thread specifically for Saturday's events; with a participant in both the Three Point Shootout and Dunk Contest, it's worth a separate thread.

Topics include: will Jamario dunk three basketballs at once...from the three point arc? Will Kapono shoot left-handed to give the other participants a chance?

All-Star Saturday Night begins at 8pm EST, on TSN/TNT.

Moon'll juggle 3 balls running to the hoop and lob them all in the air and dunk them all

Couple rumors going around, Jamario might use an inflatable Moon as a prop for one of his dunks. And Kapono will help him out on another.

I hope Jamario dunks over a replica of the town of Parma, Ohio, so then I can make some snappy remark to the extent of "Moon over Parma", causing infinite amounts of people to laugh at my manufactured cleverness.

That would be so awesome. I'd be the most popular kid in school.

I heard Jamario is finally going to have a clear path to throw it down without boneheads like Aldridge getting in the way trying to swipe the ball with less than a minute to go.. and there will also be no navarro chuckin up unorthadoxed floaters from the three point line when he can clearly throw a lob to a wide open high flyer

Seriously, I could see Ferrell coming out and being part of something to promote his movie. That would be freaking awesome.

Every year it the same thing. A bunch of kids trying to get theirs. What a waste of time.

the ball is in mid air, with gravity working its magic

Moon dunks the rim into the ball, doing an upside down 360,

Apparently the rest of the team will be there to cheer Jamario on:

I think I read this idea on these boards before...

Kapono stands at the 3-point line, shoots... Moon runs towards the basket... Kapono gets nothing but net... Moon jumps, grabs the ball when it's under the basket, and quickly does a windmill type dunk.

Jackie Moon is cool too.

Unfortunately, I dont think both Moon and Kapono will win. It'd be great if they do.

As crazy as this sounds, the NBA has rules forbidding "celebrities" from participating in this event. Only payers or former players may participate as I have read in a couple of articles in SI and ESPN.

I think it to keep the spotlight on the the NBA and the players rather than some other sideshow (even though this event is a sideshow).
