The Sun

Image is everything

"I'd rather do it myself," Bosh said. "I know myself better than anybody else or anybody that I could hire knows me. You can hire someone to mould you and shape you but this is one I can take in the direction I want to go. Someone could tell me I want to go this route and it may even be good for me but I don't think I would have as much fun doing it."

For Bosh, control is key. He has taken the opportunity that playing in Canada, out of the mainstream NBA spotlight, to make sure he is in control of his image.

East gets best of West

Led by LeBron James, who nailed down his second all-star game MVP title in the past three years, the East came out firing early and often building a nine point lead by the half on their way to a 134-128 win.

Nevermind that only five teams in the Eastern Conference are above .500 at this point in the season, while in the West there are only five teams below than .500, the East came looking for some payback and got it.

The Star

East tames beast of West

Had it not been for the brilliance of LeBron James, Paul could very well have carried the Western Conference to a dramatic come-from-behind victory in the NBA All-Star Game that would have capped a New Orleans weekend perfectly.

Basketball notes

Under new terms of the deal, Kidd and Malik Allen are headed to Dallas, with Keith Van Horn and Trenton Hassell now in the deal from the Mavs to replace Devean George and Jerry Stackhouse.

The Globe

Big Easy the big winner

"Given the nature of the situation that the city had to fight through, the tragedies that happened in the past, this is a little more special because this is part of the rebuilding process," said Toronto Raptors forward Chris Bosh, who started in place of injured Boston Celtic Kevin Garnett and scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 21 minutes.

"You have to start somewhere and I think this game brings a lot of attention to the city," Bosh added.

James named all-star game MVP

He danced along with a jazz band playing during pre-game introductions, then went down the line and high-fived the rest of the East players at the completion of the national anthem.

"The East did a great job man, we got a big lead in the first half and we withstood their run in the fourth quarter," James said after accepting the MVP trophy from NBA commissioner David Stern. "We made plays down the stretch."

"I like the way he conducts himself, man. He's real mild-mannered, but he comes out and plays hard every night. I actually have some respect. I look forward to playing against him every time we battle. He's up there with the crazy one, that being Sam Mitchell. So he has a good group of people around him from what I know. I always wish him the best, but when we hit the floor, it is what it is."

I love KG. You know what, I really started to come around to the Celtics this weekend, still dislike Pierce though, but I got nothing but love for Rivers, Allen, and KG. Really hope they do well this year in the playoffs, such a class act those guys.

Granted finding a great hockey mind that wants to come to Toronto seems to be more difficult than finding a great basketball mind that wanted to come here, but that's where that giant wad of cash under Larry Tanenbaum's mattress comes in handy.

Seriously? It's harder to find a good GM for the Leafs than for the Raptors?
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Thanks for the papers.

The Bleacher Report story on 'duds' is not a maintsream media source. Its written by a sports fan like you and me.

The rankings are just an opinion from a random blogger. He's no more a media source than any of us.

Here's his bio:

My name is Ling Ge and I have always been a fan of sports, but especially NBA basketball. I have always wanted to work in a career in sports, whether it's to be an analyst, journalist, or work for a sports company such as Nike. I am also an artist and like to do graphic design, and I would love to design clothing or sports apparel. I stumbled upon this website online and through Facebook and thought I'd write about my thoughts as a new hobby.

It must be, would you want to be a part of an organization that over the last 40 year's has shown very minimal interest in actually building a winner and one in which the current ownership continues to meddle with the GM's duties, telling him to re-sign certain guys and where Peddie keeps meddling in everything hockey.

The goal of the Leafs is to get to the dance and hope for the best when it should be let's be the best team year-in and year-out and give ourselves the best chance to win the cup.
