Master List of available coaches

The following coaches could be coaching the Raps next year:
- Sam Mitchell
- Paul Silas (imho ewww)
- Mike D'Antoni (provided the Suns get knocked out)
- Some Euro (don't rule that out!)
- Other Random Euro
- Alex English (he's due for a promotion...)
The coaching possibilities aren't that much better than what we have now. Other than possibly acquiring an European coach - could someone fill us in on any big-name European coaches - I don't think any of the other options are that much better.
That is why we should think before ditching Smitch.

I'll cry if the raptors hire a coach from europe. I wouldn't put it past colangelo as he continues to drive this team into ground with his "evolution of the game" .

that was a really **** list. Messina, Jeff Van Gundy, Rick Carlisle, any number of assistants on great teams.
Its funny you mention Alex English, I dont see him as a viable candidate, nor anyone currently on the Raptors staff, because generally firing the coach means the whole regime. Except the teflon don, Jay Triano.
As for hiring a Euro coach I wouldnt put it past him to hire one, but I think that too is unlikely, people see this euro experiment as meaning, only Europeans. Which is clearly not the case.

Well, the only Euro-coach that will be well accepted in Toronto is Mike D'Antoni

Yeah the list was clearly based off memory. If the OP can add some more potential coaches.

you forgot to add RealGM posters.. since some of them think they can do it better than Sam

this list is pointless. garbage in garbage out, and then the high transaction costs of implementing a new coach with a (new) system. the aggregate benefits are negative.

Meursault, I assume your name is from L'etranger? The indifferent fellow?

only one coach from europe comes to my mind...zeljko obradovic (currently coaching panathinaikos)...that guy won everything in europe on several occasions...he's something like gregg popovic of the spurs...maybe even more strict
that's what the raptors need...a strict coach who doesn;t buy s.h.i t. from anyone.
the bottom line is that they have to get rid of Smitch. MY roomate described him the best :"He's a pimp, and players are his biatches"

yes, chief. it was a nickname that i took from my years as a precocious and useless teenager. it is surprising how 12 years have passed (so quickly) since then, and how i am now neither precocious nor a teenager, but have this moniker to remind myself of such days.

What amazes me about the post is you show some intelligence with your first paragraph and add value to the board.
And then you become an idiot to close out the post.

Give Jay a try, either with us or some other team. He got Canada so far, with ONLY steve nash. That says something.
Oh, and his NBA coaching winning percentage is %100.

Sounds like someone recently hopped aboard the Raptors Bandwagon when they started winning, if you think BC is driving this team into the ground...
