How necesary is than this player play here next season.?

If he remain some more time in Europe ... He will come here like a Scola in the Rockets ... has he the potencial to be one of the best in Europe.?

If one of TJ or Jose is traded, and BC can't find a good back-up, then Roko will be brought over, and he'll be the back-up to whoever.

I wanna see him come over.. a lot of guys on the board are calling him our messiah even before he'd ever played an nba game.. so lets see what hes got

I'm not sold on this guy just yet. His size and strength are questioned. Can he consistantly knock down a jimmy? I doubt it. Can he guard an NBA player for anywhere near 82 games? I dooubt. He will take time folks.

Yeah, anyone looking for greatness is going to be disappointed. Not that he couldn't eventually be, but we've had two really good pg's the last two years, so by comparison (and being a rookie) he'll seem a lot worse. He'll inevitably also be compared unfavourably to the pg that has been traded.

He probably should stay in Europe until he's dominant, but there's likely a buyout window that's being taken advantage of.

I don't doubt that he will go through bad stretches over an 82 game season as any young rookie would. However, I would wager money on him being effective next year and one of our best perimeter defenders. He's just so pesky. His speed and first step will certainly allow him to get into the lane in the NBA and his distribution from penetration is good. He will throw a few wild, perhaps stupid passes from time to time but that's just the adjustment process for a rookie point guard.

I've tracked his progress for four years and this past season he really seems to have turned the corner and has shown the maturity that maybe was previously lacking. For Ukic, his early proffesional career has been difficult as he has adjusted slowly to not being the best player on the court and it took a year or two longer than many observers expected. However he has settled into the role of a true point guard and his tendancy to 'try and do too much' has been replaced by an oppurtunistic yet steady offensive game.

I think he's going to suprise a few people.

thanks for the insight man!!!I've seen a couple of his games when i was really bored and he has certainly come a long way.Even though his quickness might not be be great by nba standards, his height and long arms can make him a pesky defender. His Jump Shot is definitely improvable, can;t wait to see him!!!

I hope Smitch handles him properly and shows more patience with him than he did with Jose as a rook.

Since we drafted him 2005 (?) we can only retain his draft rights for three years. Correct me if I'm wrong, but we have to bring him over this year.

nope.... draft rights are permanent. For example San Antonio and Washington drafted Navarro and Scola in 2002 and held on to their rights until last year when Scola went to Houston and Navarro went to Memphis in a trade.

Your wrong. We have the rights indefinitely until he enters the league.

Keep in mind that if we do bring him over he will count towards or MLE meaning depending on whether or not BC has an eye on a potential free agent it could be difficult for him to bring him over.

So essentially depending on what we get back from a potential trade-be it one of our PGs, or expirings (Parker, Rasho)-could very well determine whether we would want to bring him over.

Ideally a trade that would address both of our SF and rebounding needs would open up the opportunity to use the MLE on Roko.

He should be fine playing backup to Jose. I looked at his stats this season in the euroleague and compared them with Calderon's stats in 2004-05 in the euroleague and they are very similar. Although one can argue that calderon played on a much better team then Roko but given that Roko's style of play better suits the NBA, he should easily be able to back up Calderon in his first year in the NBA.

People I really trust have told me that his game is actually more suited to the NBA than it is to Europe.

Lets not raise the expections too high remember he was a second round pick. He should make a decent back-up to either Jose or Ford. We can thank Babcock for Jose,and as far as Roko he was a good second rounder.

We expected Roko to come over here 3 years ago, so I think we're more than ready.
