Spain probably have the 2nd best team (after the U.S., of course). I'm guessing their starting 5 will be:
PG - Jose Calderon
SG - Rudy Fernandez
SF - Jorge Garbajosa
PF - Pau Gasol
C - Marc Gasol
And they'll have guys like Ricky Rubio and Juan Carlos Navarro coming off the bench. That's a pretty strong, well balanced team. Obviously nobody can compare to the U.S. on paper, but the same could be said about the last 3 U.S. teams (2002 World Championships, 2004 Olympics, 2006 World Championships), and none of those teams have done any better than bronze.

The only other international team on Spain's level is Argentina, with a probable starting 5 of:
PG - ???
SG - Manu Ginobili
SF - Andres Nocioni
PF - Luis Scola
C - Fabricio Oberto
With Carlos Delfino and Walter Herrmann coming off the bench.

Then there are some other wild-cards like Germany with Dirk and Kaman, China with Yao and Yi, Greece with no NBA players but a solid team of Euros (won EuroBasket 2005, got silver in the 2006 World Championship, came in 4th in EuroBasket 2007), and Russia with Kirilenko and solid Euros (won EuroBasket 2007).

England should have a solid team with a core of Deng, Gordon and Azubuike, but I think they're not even in the qualifier for the tourney? Brazil are pretty banged up at the moment, but if they can make it through the qualifier, and heal up for the tourney, they could have a very solid team with Barbosa, Varejao, Nene, Splitter, etc.

I looked at the latest version of U.S.A. dream team with their all-star line up and although they are super atlethic, I see mainly offence and no real glue-guys that do the dirty word defending and intangibles.

So do YOU think our own Jose "GATORADE" Calderon can lead Spain, to olympic gold over the Mighty U.S.A. dream team?

 I assure Hose couldn't lead Spain to a win over a U.S Varsity team. If they win its in spite of him not because. El Matador against Paul is an ugly little mismatch. Ugly.

yeah, let it all out.. just let it all out.. it'll make you feel better.. let out all the anger, bitterness and the sheer embarassment that you suffer night in and night out on these boards.. it'll do wonders for your self esteem and might even prevent you from killing yourself when you cry in your sleep about the loss of TJ..

All right cool cats here are a few notes.

1) No name calling, even if baited.
2) Constant disruption will not be tolerated, no matter how sly you think you can be.
3) Backseat moderating will not be tolerated.
4) Baiting other users into violating the TOS and then backseat moderating is a good way to get sent to the glue factory.
