Official Matt Devlin Critiquing Thread

For many of us (including myself) this will be the first time hearing Matt Devlin calling the game as the new Raptor announcer. Like him or hate him?

I'll start things off:

-don't call Jason Kapono 'JK'... not an acceptable nickname
-don't call Andrea Bargnani 'AB'... not an acceptable nickname
-don't call Jermaine O'Neal 'JO'... not an acceptable nickname
-don't call Anthony Parker 'AP'... not an acceptable nickname

I'm sure there will be more to come very soon.

So far, 3/10.

I like him. Not a fan of the initials for everyone, but he's got a great announcing style... flows well and doesn't distract from the on-court play.

he sounds fine for me...but I'm paying way more attention to the game than the announcers

And AP is fine. For whatever reason, I'm used to hearing Parker referred to as AP.

he's actually better now than in preseason, and with leo w/ him, makes him sound even better

First time hearing him with Leo right now, and actually not minding it. They seem to have better chemistry the chuck and leo. Not sure if it's gonna be like this all 82 games. There maybe just better tonight since it's season opener. But so far, so good.

I like what I've heard from him so far.

He doesn't have Chucks energy but hes better IMO

I like him better than Chuck. He's still a little corny, but not near as corny as Chuck and he calls the game objectively unlike Chuck. He just needs better catchphrases

So far he's been pretty good. Although he seems too get excited at odd times.

Jose being Signor was TERRIBLE. But other than that I'm good with everything. As they say, winning cures all....

I prefered Chuck but that's cause I listened to him for a very long time, Devlin is just as corny as him though with his "senor" and "THREEEEEEEE BALL BY JK" BS.

That's exactly what he doesn't need. It's been so refreshing not hearing so many goofy catchphrases all the time, good riddance
