2008-09 MVP... Chris Bosh?

Post#1 » by K1NG » Fri Oct 31, 2008 11:09 pm

The four names you think of when you're predicting the MVP for this season are Kobe, CP3 Lebron and even Paul Pierce (if he can lead his team to be as successful as they were last season). These are the consensus picks and no one would argue otherwise (with the exception of Beasley, who believes that he will win). But who's the next guy in line? Well, according to the first installment in the Race to the MVP on NBA.com, it's none other than our very own Chris Bosh. Granted it's only been one game, this could be a sign of things to come. O'Neal will undoubtedly make things easier, so it's not crazy to believe that Bosh can keep up his MVP-type play throughout the whole season. Of course, our success and his chances of winning the MVP go hand-in-hand, so it's a win-win situation for the fans and for Chris if he makes it a personal goal to become MVP.

Since when was Pierce a consensus pick for MVP? Maybe I missed the memo.

Uhh... haven't you heard he is the BEST player in the world, or so he says. Of course he is a consensus MVP pick.

He's the Greatest Player in the World. The MVP trophy already has his name on it for the next 3 years. How incredible is Paul Pierce? MVP with 81 games left in the season.

if we post 52+ wins I think he will be in the discussion...I'm predicting 23.5ppg, 10.5 rpg, 3 apg, 1 spg, 1.5 bpg.....i see him being 3-5 in the mvp voting if all goes well...he cant overcome lebron or pauls numbers

Yeah, I think it'll depend on how many games we win too.

I didn't even know Pierce said that. I just googled it. That's jokes.

KG would defenitely get MVP considerations before Pierce.
I think Bosh has a chance of getting serious MVP considerations, that is if the Raptors have a very good season, and make a deep playoff run. Its pretty funny that 5-6 min into the game today the fans were chanting MVP when Bosh was taking his freethrows.

Wasn't there 1 year when he didn't get in the top five. Bosh will definitely be in the MVP talks if we win 55+ games.

So far in the past two games he is averaging 29pts and 10rebs. Calderon is averaging 14.5pts and 10ast. Plus Calderon Ast to turnover is 10 to 1....disgusting.

I see Bosh getting the MVP if he keeps his stats up and we somehow become a 60+ win team.

He essentially has no chance at an MVP.
If he could beat out his 7th place finish from a few years ago, that would be a huge accomplishment

Right now, if Bosh could keep the play he has been having the last 2 games, and the team keeps on winning, I see no problem Bosh beating out his 7 place finish.

Bosh seems different this year, more confident and has his swagger. Just a different person.

If Raptors win the east Bosh has a chance. I don't think anyone can win it from east without number 1 seed.

I expect Kobe to repeat, Lakers are very good and Pau Gasol being so underrated really helps him in the MVP race.

Bosh would have to average like 27/10 and even still I don't think he'd win it.

I mean Amare has put up gross offensive numbers in the past and what's his highest ever MVP finish?
