When Pierce is hitting his fade away there isn't much you can do to defend it. Would doubling him of helped, maybe but then you are leaving another scoring option open and we probably would have gotten hurt in another way. Personally it looked like Pierce was settling for jumpers thru out most of the night. It wasn't untill the late stages did he start making them. The only reason I would have changed Kapono for Moon would be arm length but in terms of not letting PP blow buy us on the perimeter, Kapono didn't do a bad job by any means. Some shots can't be defended and a fade away jumper is one of them.
I don't really blame Kapono, because he was put in a lose-lose situation. His offense however, is beyond annoying with his reluctance to take shots.
But, a lot of those shots weren't that hard for Pierce. His pet move is that little turnaround fade, he hits is pretty good from a lot farther away. You could just tell Pierce had absolutely no fear when JK was guarding him, so he did whatever he wanted. Boston went down to him for like 15 consecutive possession's in the 4th.
Moon played Pierce fairly well, and he really should have been in there. His length bothered Pierce on some shots in the 3rd Q and he's at least someone you have to respect on that end of the floor. He could have got torched too, but we would have had a fighting chance at least.
Doug is a flat out tool btw, there is absolutely no way someone could defend that decision. No way.
