Waste. Every player on the damn roster is already a role player, no need to spend 8 mill annually for another one, especially one as overrated as Ariza.

I would offer Ariza the MLE he has a chance to be an allstar in the east.

I'd rather go after him than Turkoglu, Marvin Williams, Marquis Daniels and some of the other names being thrown around. Yeah, you're going to have to overpay him for what he's done so far, but gambles need to be taken sometimes otherwise you're stuck with mediocrity. At least with Ariza, we would have him while he is in his prime for the duration of any contract he signs.
MLE won't get it done. He's likely looking for at least 8 million a year over 5 years and will likely get it from some team. He'll either make a team look like a genius for gambling on him or make them look stupid for overpaying. I think he has room to grow into being a pretty good offensive player along with being a lockdown defender.

Nope. He's making a big mistake by not accepting a deal with the Lakers.

His offensive game is limited.. his D would be nice.. but really. We need someone on the wings who can fill it up.

Ariza is pretty much a last resort. If we're signing him, we should probably expect Bosh to be traded soon after. If he's our best swing, we're definitely not making the playoffs.

Agreed.
Ariza's long, athletic, a great defender, and he's still young. He's already become one of the spot-up shooters in the league even though he came into the league as a very raw offensive player. Just from that he's shown his work ethic and he's only going to get better and better. I think getting him could be a very wise investment. However I doubt he'll leave the Lakers as they know how important he is to them, and even if we do overpay it's still unlikely since there'll be other teams with better winning situations than us.

For the future, yes. To keep Bosh happy? Doubt it.

Overrated, his game is magnified because he plays with Kobe

Ariza is not worth more than the MLE.. Despite how well he played for the Lakers, he's still a role player who's weaknesses will be exposed if he's given a larger role.. The Lakers are the perfect situation for him career wise.. If he's smart he's going to find that medium between the money he wants and sticking with his current situation.. Otherwise he's going to become another overpaid and heavily criticized player in some less than ideal location..
