The Houston Rockets thought they had become championship contenders last summer when they acquired Ron Artest to join Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming, a pair of perennial All Stars.

Less than a year later, the Rockets are rebuilding from scratch with no Artest and no idea when McGrady or Yao will play again.

I hope Ariza has fun in Houston he isn't going to play at a playoff game in a while and might regret not turning to Toronto and the rumored 40 million dollar contract we were going to offer

Yao out - Houston deals with it every year
McGrady out - Houston deals with it every year

result - Houston still makes the playoffs

McGrady returns before the playoffs and they get a first round exit.

Yao is going to miss the entire season probably which hasn't ever happened. They are going to be lucky to get to 40 wins.

Houston won't win 30 games. Nobody can score except for Brooks on that team and he's not the most efficient guy. They're solid defensively, but worse than last year without Artest.

Brooks/Lowry
Ariza/Barry
Battier
Scola/Dorsey
Hayes/Cook

Horrible. One guy will average more than 15pts a game and that's Brooks. Everybody else can't really score. They have the worst offense in the whole league.

Ariza won't play the two.

Hopefully this gives Dorsey some minutes. I want to see him.

Than where the heck is he going to play? The 3? Than does the bigger, slower Battier play at the 2? Does Battier or Ariza come off the bench? Than who starts at the 2? Aaron Brooks? With Lowry at the 1? Does Chase Budinger start? That makes the starting unit much worse defensively which is the rockets strength.

The team is built weirdly. Very Small, can't score, can't pass. They can rebound and defend I'll give them that, but that's not enough.

They never really cared about size since Yao always made up for them having 6'6 and 6'9 PF's but with Yao gone for soo long their gonna be getting exposed a lot.

If Battier/Artest worked for them at the 2/3 last year, Ariza/Battier will work this year.

Sorry for the OT post but how could the username Michael Jordan still be availabe on RealGM?

Sad news about Yao. I feel guilty about predcting his injury riddled career a few years ago.

Houston did alright without Yao and T-Mac in the latter stages of the Lakers series, now with Ariza they may surprise some people, they aren't the type of team that will roll over and die that's for sure

Funny how things work that way. But in the end it could work out for them. If they manage to be bad enough to get John Wall, and if they can be big players in 2010 with all their cap space, they can easily reload in a season and come back in a huge way.
