He should have been defensive coach from the beginning. Let Avery Johnson or someone angry take over as head coach

There is juice to this rumor, folks.

Take it from me.

OP is a vet poster, by the way.

If the rumour is true Triano did the right thing knowing the GM just brought in a new defensive minded coach. It's the correct thing to do in the business world if you want to change something the boss has done.

What I meant was, if Triano were a real head coach he would just tell Iavoroni the new defensive plan and have him see it through. You shouldn't have to ask the GM to please let you run the team defense your way instead of your assistant's. That's ridiculous.

Well, since some of the senior posters are validating OP as legit, i'll go along. So, the real question is WTF is Ivaroni doing for us then?

seems like everyone I know is a reliable source. some have been on (smitch' dismissal, belinelli 's signing, jarret jack offer sheet)..

but i'm still waiting on Al Harrington to become a Raptor.

anyhow, back on topic.

Marc works for Jay Triano. We do not operate like a football coaching staff.

Jay has final word on offense, defense, dinner, whatever

I think it warrants a discussion. Remember Iavaroni was one of the names that a lot of people here brought up to replace Smitch. If this rumour is true then what purpose does he have here? He was brought in to help improve our defence and instead made it much worse.

While the defensive philosophy might not have changed the execution has been a lot better. Maybe Jay is just better than Iavaroni at explaining the guys to do what they're supposed to do and pointing out their mistakes on defence.

I didn't phrase it properly...I mean it isn't groundbreaking news so I don't think we think can dismiss it. I mean its not one of those rumours made up just for attention. Sounds real.
