OT: Do you think KG is done?

Post#1 » by Rembokz » Sat Jan 16, 2010 2:33 am

Past 2 seasons he's been injured his best season was when he first came here after that injuries has made him miss games, and playoffs... He still has 3 seasons left on his contract, but from my looks after this season or next season Boston will be trading him....

KG makes Boston a championship contender, so no.

He's still one of the more talented PF's in the league, and is probably the most talented glue guy in the league.

I'm glad he missed yesterday's game. if he played, Bulls would have lost

One-and-done. The "Big 3" of the Celtics are never going to be healthy at the same time again.

He'll be a jumping shooting PF but veteran defensive presence. By that I mean more steals, less blocks but generally keeping people on defenc in the right spot. Maybe he takes more charges than he used to.
Pretty neat and on the fridge for the real fans:

All teams on the way up encounter this kind of challenge. When Larry Bird was playing for the Celtics, the team for a couple of years in a row, just couldn't beat the Julius Erving 76rs. The Blue Jays had similar problems with the Yankees before they finally won their division. Good teams use those games to learn what it takes to win. I guess a lot of posters here are too young to understand that teams need time to learn and grow. The current model of the Boston Celtics is a freak of nature--three guys who chose to play together on the downside of their careers. It's not a formula for long term success. Ray Perkins and Big Baby are nice pieces, Rajon is a talent, but without a healthy Ray Allen that's not a team that can compete for the Eastern championship. One and done.

Well the Celtics went 5-4 (.555) w/o and 22-7 (.759) w/ him this year.

He can't be "done" at all. Even if he cannot play as he used to, he's still one of the best post defenders in the league and is efficient on offence, too. His contribution is beyond his stats. Got to admit he's had his problems rebounding the ball this year, though, and that must be because of his knees.

And you say this according to what reliable sources? Mindpower? Clairvoyance? Tell me this week's lottery numbers.

Completely! Ray and to a lesser degree Eddie House are the guys that you hate to play against. The Celtics will always play hard defensively, even without KG... But without Ray (and, again, to a lesser degree House) they can't run those great screen sequences and cheat on them as much as possible to get tons of open shots.

So Bargnani is putting up better than superstar nubers?

Good argument.

I sure as hell hope so.

I look forward to the day Garnett is either retired or plays himself into embarassment nightly.

1. Who said he was a superstar?
2. Who said you can decide if a player is a superstar or not just by his numbers?
