The Letter V wrote:If you're comparing our bigs, I think it's Bosh rather easily. When he gets a decent look, it's nearly automatic for him. With Bargs, you still don't have that sort of confidence when he launches a jumper. Andrea's shot is alot less mechanical than CB's and therefore his jumper is more prone to be affected by his rhythm. Bosh has a high crisp release at the apex of his jumper and therefore is more effective at adjusting his shot in mid-air to make up for a lack of continuity with his footwork when the situation presents itself. Bargs' shot has a smooth follow through and it's pretty clear when watching him shoot that his pre-shot preparation, footwork and rhythm on the catch are all indicative of the outcome of his shot attempt.

Nice description, took the words out of my mouth. Bosh's shot mechanics are so polished, which is why his mid-range game is so consistent. Not to take anything from Bargs though obviously, he's lethal from anywhere on the court.

Calderon is best spot-up....Bargs best shooter overall.

jose seems to be the most consistant these past few seasons. Bargs isn't bad either, hard to pick between them. Bosh mid range is pretty damm good too.

Jose hasn't been as consistent this year and he takes WAY too long to set up his shot which usually results in the opposing player contesting the shot...Right now I would say it's Bargnani followed closely by Bosh.

Bargs has more range, but Bosh is far more consistent. For some reason Bargs seems to shoot the same percentage on mid-range jumpers that he does on 3 point shots. Is there a site that has this data?

Canada_7 wrote:He seems to have changed his shot slightly since the beginning of the season. Someone else noticed it when I mentioned in yesterday's game thread. Seems to be using his legs more now and less of his arms/upper body (much less of that huge wind-up he use to have on his shot).

I noticed this as well. His shot is much more fluid through the legs to the release. Maybe it was work with Hopla? Demar still needs to fine tune his shot though. You can see on his free throws that his ball rotation isn't straight on 6-12, it's a bit wonky.

I say Jose...I actually think he's an underrated offensive player. If he could do what Marco does (off-ball movement, running behind screens...), he can be a poor mans Rip.

...and what's with his free throws this season?

Im sure no one willl give him credit right now but for me it goes like this:

Rasho
Hedo
Jose
Bargs/Bosh (Bosh has a much better midrange game with step backs, fadeaways, and fading post shots etc. but bargs has more range and has a great pull-up game from midrange)
Bellineli
Jack

I don't think DD will ever be a great shooter.

I heard that Bargnani usually wins the team shooting contests but I can't trust my source.

I love how 3 of the last 4 posts in this thread are Veggamattic's insightful one-liners; there's an edit button buddy, use it.

Based on 3-point shooting? Wide open, it's Jose. But Bargs with his height and reach can get his shot off far more easily.

Problem is, most people link shooting ability with range. But inside the arc, Bosh is our best shooter. It's his dead-eye 15-20 foot range that allows him to beat defenders off the dribble and get to the rim so often.

About what? You never watched hedo shoot before the past month or so?

The guy is 6'10 and has a really quick release from anywhere on the court. He isnt consistent but everything else is his.

Once he gets on a hot streak you'll be eating your words.
