Matt Devlin: "Jay Triano.. FURIOUS"

Post#1 » by redshortz » Tue Jan 26, 2010 3:54 pm

Why is it that Matt Devlin always says Jay Triano is furious, they do a camera shot of him and he looks calm as ever.. speaking to Iavaroni. This happens all the time. Why can't he just say "Jay Triano doesn't like the call". There is no grey area... its just Furious Jay or Normal Jay...

His eyebrows make him look angry all the time

He sits close enough to hear Jay hollering, so I don't think he's making bold faced lies.

It seems like I am alone with this here, but I can't stand Matt Devlin.

He is as shallow as wannabe a "anchorman", and his "emotional" outbursts are so fake it's hard to stand.

I didn't like him at first but he's really grown on me. He's 20000x less annoying than Chuck, he busts Leo's balls, and he has just enough homerism to remind you that you're watching the Raptors feed.

The way he describes emotion is almost always done incorrectly, but it's one of those things you come to love about Devlin.

Give it a couple years until more than just RealGM'ers see the awesomeness of Devlin, he'll be just as adored as Chuck.

I like Devlin's awkwardness, it's very comedic.

Speaking of commentators, I love Walt Frazier. I swear the man carries a thesaurus with him.

1st Quarter, Bargnani completes an easy, uncontested layup.

Devlin: OH! BARGNANI FINISHES WITH THE RIGHT HAND!!!!

4th Quarter, 2 minutes left, Jose Calderon hits a fade away three with a hand in his face.

Devlin: And Jose connects with a three. (Absolutely no emphasis given)

Maybe they can add a Triano Fury-Metre to the on-screen scoreboard. It can be a little cartoon picture of the coach and the madder he is, the more red his face turns.

This.
Pretty good unintentional comedic effect with him. Some of the dialogue between him and Jack Armstrong is so dry that it makes me burst out laughing.

Devlin says "Jay Triano ... FURIOUS" because it sounds better than "Jay Triano ... mildly upset and apologetic before he diplomatically disputes a bad call with the referee".

This.

I don't mind Devlin at all. His fake laugh was annoying at first, but I've gotten used to it. He's a huge improvement over Chuck.
