He's the reason I started watching basketball. Before that I was a certified puckhead.

There should be a poll for this thread and only one option: No.

vince would of brought years of mediocrity to toronto, nets traded him, orlando wants to trade him, you see a patter there.

There is a poll. It has two options, but you're allowed to choose both.

Re: Do Raptor Fans Regret Trading Jamison for Carter
I'm shocked that no one has even mentioned the impact that having Jamison might have had on keeping Tracy McGrady. Granted, Tracy's back injuries impeded his ability to reach his full potential, but if it hadn't? If the McGrady health issues never occurred, I'd argue in favour of keeping Jamison since Tracy would have been less likely to leave with Antawn in the fold. Antwan is a good player but not a max player who would steal lime light (and max contract) from Tracy, and they would be more compatible too.
That's a big if but since we are playing this game of hindsight, i think my arguement is worth thinking about.
a Healthy Tracy + Jamison > Carter

But that's his downside.
No thats his backside.
Lowry's upside is mental and psychological.

Unfortunately you may be right, but hopefully many more raps fans fell in love with the game watching true competitors, not glorified high jumpers like Vince.

We all need a reason to get into something, I don't think anyone is born with a passion for basektball, there's always that one moment which attracts you to a sport/discipline in life.
And as far as the glorified jumper comment is concerned, I beg to differ. You can call Gerald Green/Nate Robinson/Jason Richardson glorified jumpers, but Vince in his prime was faaarr from that. Those Raptors teams were some of the most competitive and intense (thanks to oak) that I've witnessed.

Re: Do Raptor Fans Regret Trading Jamison for Carter
I agree ^^^
the golden era raptors rarely if ever took nights off. They were stacked at every position with guys that brought it for 48 minutes every game. Christie(till he left) oak, a.will and j.will, Davis, Willis, bogues, childs, curry. None of them astounding talents, but all good character guys, who played to their strengths and who you would never question their effort. How many guys can u say that about on the raptors the past couple years? Add in the fact Carter provided some of the most amazing basketball excitment I have ever seen next to Jordan, ahead of lebron, Kobe of the past few years comes close... And that was a team to be proud of, and however brief it lasted, I wouldn't trade the memories for a nice guy named antawn.

I'd say of all the big decisions that have been made over the years, this one gets the least thought. I don't think there are many Raptors fans who would ever say we would have been better off without Vince.
Better off without giving pseudo-scrubs huge contracts to keep him happy, sure, and better off if we'd traded him for something worthwhile, but not better off without him. He was necessary.

He sucks? The man has been averaging 20 and 9 for the past 6 seasons, with no signs of regression. Antawn will be one of those guys sticking around the league for a long time.

Carter pretty much made the Raptors a legit basketball team and prevented the team from moving to New Orleans or Oklahoma City. So No!!

Anybody who would ask this question doesn't remember VC in his prime...I have amazing memories of that time.
