How Would Some Eastern Conference Teams Do In The West

Post#1 » by ProjectChester » Tue Feb 9, 2010 2:11 am

...including us. Based on percentage, right now we are .549. In the west, we would be freakin 9th place. I wonder how Boston, Atlanta, Orlando and especially Cleveland would fare if they were in the west. For example, I dont think Cleveland has enough firepower to be the best in the west, teams like Utah and Denver can somewhat easily defeat the Cavs. Nobody would take $hit from Garnett and the Celtics, those old geezers would get dominated by teams like OKC and Portland. Orlando is getting beat by N.O as I write this right now.

I think the Raptors would actually stand a chance because we have the OFFENSE to hang with teams like Phoenix, Denver, Utah, Dallas. I believe that teams in the west don't play as good defense as teams in the East.

I think the top four teams in the East would be dwellers in the Western Conference and the Raps would have a better chance of being higher seeded.

If we ranked all the teams in the NBA...the top 10 teams would be and this is also the seeding.

1) LA Lakers
2) Denver
3) Cleveland
4) Toronto
5) Dallas
6) Atlanta
7) Orlando
8) Boston
9) Utah
10) San Antonio
11) OKC

How does 5th in a mediocre eastern conference translate to 4 in a competitive tough western conference ???

Why?

Just chew on this for a moment......

Since the beginning of December we have not lost a game to a Western opponent.

Count it....

7 wins 0 losses

To say we can't compete with the west is inaccurate. Not only can we compete with them, we can dominate them.

^Because I think our type of playing style would be really effective against the west.

yea i hear playing no defense vs west teams is basically free wins. In the east though it only gives you the 5th seed.

I don’t know why people act like the Raptors would get dominated in the West.
The Raptors tend to play at the level of their opponents most of the time, so it's not that bad.

FAIL

Of the top five teams in the East, the Raptors are the only squad with a sub-.500 record (13-18) against teams with winning records.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/r ... le1452706/

Since the West has MORE teams with winning records AND the Raptors would need to play those teams more times being in the Erst logic dicates their record would be worse. They would get dominated out west put down the crack pipe please.

We're 9-7 against the west this year. I'm not sure it's guaranteed we would be under .500

FAIL?

The Raps are 9-7 against the west so far this year.

Wins:
Sacramento
LAL
Dallas
SA
NOH twice
Houston
Minny
LAC

6 of those wins against the west are against winning teams.

Losses:
Memphis
Phoenix twice
Dallas
SAS
Denver
Utah

All 7 losses are against winning teams.

So the Raps are 6-7 against winning teams in the west, and 3-0 against losing teams in the west. So far.

Since the players meeting after the Atlanta game, the Raps are 7-0 against the west, with 5 of the games being against winning teams.

"Logic" doesn't dictate the Raps would be doing worse. The Raps have been losing to winning teams in the east, not the west, having gone 6-11 against above .500 teams in the east. So yes, let's all put on our logic caps.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

i dunno about that, even the mediocre teams in the west are around the .500

it's all the wins to crappy teams in the East that inflates the Wests' W column.
