Spoelstra with lack of ideas on Offence?

Post#1 » by raptor21_85 » Tue Feb 9, 2010 5:08 pm

As we all know, Heat haven't been doin well lately, and Wade seems to be frustrated with the coaching. According to the WT, he says Heat offence has turned too predictable and seems to blame Spoelstra for the lack of options on the O side.

So now, do you think Heat would have to fire Spoelstra so they can re-sign Wade?

It's not the coach...this team needs another player or 2.

Wade said if anyone thinks he does have a problem with Spoelstra they misconstrued his postgame words after Saturday's 95-91 loss at Chicago.

"I don't have a problem with coach at all," Wade said after Monday's practice. "Me and him are on one page with each other."

Wade and Spoelstra, who often communicate via text messages, had a conversation about that comment. Wade said they "looked at each other and just laughed" when some hinted Wade's words were an indication of a rift between coach and player.

"There will probably be some tweaks in the fourth quarter," Spoelstra said. "You won't see anything major, but we do need to tweak it to make sure it's balanced at the start of the fourth quarter."

Spoelstra gave no indication what those changes would be, but Wade seems placated for now. He was in a good mood Monday, and even found occasion to joke about those who contend he puts himself above his teammates.

Nice thread title.

In reality, the Heat need a ton of changes to make Wade happy.

The first is obviously signing a major FA BEFORE Wade himself commits. Then yet another really good complimentary player and hope that they get really lucky in the draft or package their picks for a higher one. If I was them, I would shop Beasley but not for Amare or someone who they can just pick up next year.

All this being said the Heat will need a proven coach to be taken seriously by both Wade and the league. DWade wants rings not just progression. I think the minimum the Heat would need to get would be a Byron Scott, Avery Johnson or JVG.

Why is that the title when Wade clearly says it wasn't a knock towards Spoelstra's offensive system??

Firing the coach is usually needed when the majority of players dislike the current coaching system or the person in general. Keeping a coach with a team for a longer time rather than assigning new ones every so often works out much better. Of course sometimes new coaches click better than older ones.
Right now Wade needs someone to help him out at least someone of above average talent that he can go to instead of putting it all on himself.

Wade said he and Spoelstra is on the same page from wire tap

They both know no one in the team can step up?

More like Wade doesn't like the people in the management level. I am not surprise if he wants to be traded this summer :D

Spoelstra or Triano?

are people satisfied, happy, unhappy or egg-stactic about JayBoy?

Well the offence is just Wade, nobody on that team other than Beasley can score.

It's not a shot at Spoelstra ... its a shot at Riley and managment. Basically Wade is saying that he needs more help. There offense is 80% Wade, 10% Beasley and 10% trash ....

It's not a lack of ideas, it's a lack of talent. Riley basically tanked the last few seasons after Shaq and went after expiring contracts just to grab an allstar come 2010.. Wade has probably the worst surrounding cast of any other star in the league..

Alston, Arroyo, Chalmers, Cook, Wright, O'neal, Haslem, Beasley, Joel Anthony, Quentin Richardson.. this is like the all scrub team.. they are overachieving by a lot.. put Wade on the Nets and they're a 50 win squad imo..

What's wrong with the "Give the Ball to Wade" offensive scheme?

Works well if they had a second tier star but they don't and they have a good record for the fact that they are 1 All-Star + D-league.

As a Filipino-Canadian I have mixed feelings. On one side you have a Canadian coach coaching Canada's team. On the other side, you have the first Filipino coach in the NBA.

In terms of coaching ability, from what I've seen, they seem to be fairly equal with their BBIQ. Motivationally, Spoelstra seems to have a bit more fire than Jay but, it looks like Jay is doing pretty well maximizing the roster right now. Spoelstra just doesn't have much to work with in Miami.

This

They have 2 starting PFs (O'neal and beasley), a nice sixth-man (Haslem) and backup pg (Chalmers) + Scrubs. They should be 30-35 win team, but Wade wills them through games.

What ideas on offense should he have?

Maybe make the ball go through the next more often when you shoot?

Wade's supporting cast is simply horrible. Take wade off that team and replace him with another Sg and see if they are any better.

Their might just have the worst PG rotation in the NBA worse than the Lakers even. The defensive startegy vs Miami is pretty simple. Send two guys at Wade every time he touches the ball. Then deny him the return pass. Let anyone else shoot it but Wade. Let anyone else try to create a shot for toehrs beside Wade.

There's not too many offensive plays you can run with only one offensive player. Might as well give Wade the ball and let him create. This one's totally on Riley.

I don't think they have to fire him to keep Wade, but if Wade says "go" Riley's boot will be up Spo's ass in a heart beat!

The reason they suck is not because of Spoelstra lacking ideas on offense, but because their GM hasn't surrounded him with good offensive players.
