OT: Spud Webb To Judge Slam Dunk Contest

Post#1 » by DG88 » Tue Feb 9, 2010 5:55 pm

And with the NBA All-Star Game returning to Dallas for the first time since, Webb -- still the shortest champion in the event's history -- will have a big part in determining the next Slam Dunk Contest champion as a judge.

"Having lived in Dallas my entire life, it's great to finally see the All-Star Game back here," Webb said in a statement. "This event brings back a lot of great memories."

I wonder who else will be judging the dunk contest this year?

My half sarcastic guesses would be

Magic Johnson - For Brown
Michael Jordan - For GWall
Vince Carter - For DeRozan...
Spud Webb - For Nate
Kenny Smith - For the hope that he can say something memorable and not idiotic.

EDIT: Wait, isn't there always at least one female judge? If so, then I'll throw out Candace Parker, because she's the latest female to dunk one down right?

They'll probably some famous Dallas people as judges - Emmitt Smith, JR Ewing, Rolando Blackman. It would be cool if DeRozan brought out Shawn Bradley (a former 7'6" Mav) and dunked over top of him.

They should get me as a judge.

I'd give an automatic 0 to anyone who attempts a FT line dunk but jumps well inside the line, or those regular dunks like windmills, reverse dunks, tomahawks that people always do for their first dunk. Either you get creative or GTFO.

There are only so many dunks that are physically possible. How much more creative can they get? For me, what wins me over in dunk contests is the showmanship. That's what made Vince one of the greatest. It wasn't just the great dunks he was pulling off. It was the flare with which he did them. That's why I didn't mind D12's inclusion in the contest because he has the showmanship.
