Welcome to the future, Marty. Jazz 2023

Post#1 » by AingesBurner » Sat Jul 9, 2022 11:02 pm

Let’s post our ideas for next off season.

I think Jazz get Ayton this season, and trade some other players to free up space for 2023.

We walk into 2023 with 25-30 mill in cap. We finished the season 40-42, have a lotto pick.

Draft:

13
24

Jazz combine both picks and move up into the top 10.

Off-season:

Jazz sign Wiggins to a 4 year 95 mill deal

Jazz use the MLE on Beasley

Jazz use BAE on Wing

What do you think happens?
Ingles is cooked.

I don't know what they are going to look like, but I wish they would hurry up. I want to see what we are cheering on this upcoming season and its definitely not the jerseys. :)

I do expect Conley and Bogie to get moved if they find the right trade. I doubt we get any big trade piece like Ayton, but keeping my expectations kind of low.

What do we give Ayton? Currently we have 3 picks for next year, so is one going for Ayton? Why would we sign a player we have bird rights to in Beasley to our MLE? Also he'd have to have a pretty poor season to only be worth that, unless he's joining a more competitive team. Where are we getting 13? Is that our pick? Is a near .500 record going to yield end of the lottery? Not sure on that

I think we stand pat and keep our flexibility for next offseason.

Draft picks: #10, #18, #22
Free agent signings: DeAndre Hunter (4 yr/$100M), Keldon Johnson (4 yr/$90M)
Draft picks: Dereck Lively (#10), Leonard Miller (#18), Amari Bailey (#22)

We could have like $50M+ in cap space next summer

When does the new tv deal go into effect? Hearing that will raise the cap significantly

No way we stand pat

Don, Con, Bev, But
Beasley, Clarkson, NAW, Bolmaro
Bogey
Vanderbilt, Gay
Azubuike, Kessler

We're not carrying 8 guards into the season especially considering at least 5 are borderline starter quality.

I think you are going to see a couple more moves from us once things start going again on the trade line. Ayton getting traded soon might get things moving. But I think we are going to see Conley, Bogey, Gay, and another guard or 2 get traded before the season starts. One could be Spida if we get someone willing to pay enough.

I could see Poeltl as an option with one of our TPEs. I don't think we make any more big trades other than Conley/Bojan.

If the goal is to try and be competitive I'd try to swing:

Jazz receive: Richardson, Poeltl / Spurs receive: Conley, 2023 1st (Via Minn)
Jazz receive: John Collins | Hawks receive: Bojan, Gay, 2023 1st (Via PHI)

PG - Donovan | Beverly | Butler
SG - Beasley | Clarkson | NAW
SF - Richardson | Bolmaro
PF - Collins | Vanderbilt
C - Poeltl | Kessler | Udoka

Trade Bojan, Beverly, 2023 1st (via Minn), future 1st for Wiggins and give Barrett a max offer sheet next summer. Draft Dereck Lively with our 1st.

Donovan - Barrett - Wiggins - Vanderbilt - Lively

You know Wiggins is an expiring, yes? That is a bunch to give up for an expiring contract for a guy who could easily walk unless you're maxing him again. Knicks will get an extension done with RJ beforehand

Ainge probably has several burners. I think we're all Ainge's burners.
Draft Nate Wolters - FAILED
Keep Nate Wolters - FAILED

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

You obviously only make this trade if you're extending Wiggins. RJ getting extended by the Knicks is far from guaranteed
