Hypothetical Team Comparison

Post#1 » by Wolverine » Sat Aug 20, 2022 11:16 am

Imagine Jazz got the same deal only for Donovan instead of Rudy.
Which team wins more games, team A or B?

Team A:

C: Udoka, Kessler
PF: Vandervilt, Gay
SF: Bogdanovic, NAW, Bolmaro, Fontecchio
SG: Mitchell, Clarkson, Beasley
PG: Conley, Beverley, Butler

Team B:

C: Gobert Udoka, Kessler
PF: Vandervilt, Gay
SF: Bogdanovic, Bolmaro, Fontecchio
SG: Clarkson, Beasley, NAW
PG: Conley, Beverley, Butler

I don't think it matters if one team wins a bit more games than the other. Neither team would go anywhere in the playoffs, which is why we are where we are.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Team B would win more games, but wouldn't even be guaranteed to make the playoff tournament......

The team with Gobert. It has enough volume scoring with the defense to be a playin team. Team A has a very, very outside chance of being a playin team if Donovan unleashed is suddenly prime Dame.

I'm going to take team A. But Beverley is my starting PG because it'll help our D and when Mitchell goes out Conley can help carry the scoring load. I think Kessler might also be the starter because of scoring plus is known for his D. Big guy who can shoot the 3? I believe this team still reaches the playoffs with more wins. Think team B reaches the playoffs but with fewer wins.

Gobert is the ultimate floor raiser, he’ll get you to the play in if not playoffs but no farther without someone to rise the ceiling. I think team B has a much higher floor.

But are in no man’s land however. Not good enough nor bad enough.

I think Fontecchio is going to be pretty good and demanding minutes. That being said Team Gobert is a better team, Team Mitchell is going to have more highlights. I prefer winning over highlights so team Gobert.
