Knicks fan coming in peace. Let's face it, Ainge has constructed one team that won a title but only after his friend McHale gifted him Garnett. Jazz have come close but never one any title (and never will). Utah is not a free agent destination. Good luck trying to dispose of all the picks. Have fun tanking.

Well, that was a unique "coming in peace" lol.
...but let's face it, New York, despite it's smugness, isn't a free agent destination, either. Over the last decade who has flocked to the Big Apple? Brunson, Evan Fournier and Joakim Noah aren't exactly big name FA's.
Congrats on the Knicks titles in the early 70's, BTW. (Were you even alive then?) Biggest market on the planet and THAT'S what gives you ammo for giving the Utah Jazz sh*t about rings? lol
All kidding aside (and I am being lighthearted, I promise), the tank and the "what ifs" will at least keep things interesting around here for a couple years. Seems most Knick fans on RealGM are ok with not getting Mitchell at the price-tag reported, so I suppose from a fan perspective it was a win-win non-trade.

If the Knicks are a better free agent destination, then what is their excuse for being this awful for the last several decades? (bad management). With all of the Jazz's disadvantages as a small market team, it has been by far the better franchise for decades. I'll take the Jazz's future over the Knicks' any day. Both may never win a ring but at least the Jazz will be run properly and be the better team.
Draft Nate Wolters - FAILED
Keep Nate Wolters - FAILED

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Re: Current State of Donovan
Once we hit 2027-2029 I really think at least one of those Cle/Minn picks is going to hit a huge jackpot. Both those teams, with the exception of the Lebron years in Cleveland, have been perpetual lottery squads and guessing at least one if not both of them will be right back to the ping pong balls by the end of this decade. Neither team has assets to improve and neither is a FA destination. This isn't the good old days of the NBA when Malone and Stockton types would stick with their teams during good and bad times.
All we need is for Rudy to fall out with either KAT or Edwards in Minn for one of them to demand out. Rudy is already 30 at this point too.
There are already whisperings Cavs can't give Mobley a designated 5 year rookie max anymore. Won't be surprised when Donovan starts taking the ball out of Garland's hands or freezing out his bigs and eventually leaves for LA or NY in 3 years. Whose team is it going to be in Cleveland? Usually there is some kind of pecking order and egos get bruised.
I suspect there will be an initial 1-2 year honeymoon for both Rudy and Don but it will be interesting to see how it all plays out by 2027.

If Danny learned anything in Boston, it should be that extra picks are assets to be spent once you've established your core.
The Jazz have basically put two All-Star players in their future vault if they're willing to pull the trigger.

Agreed. I think Danny frittered away alot of his draft pick warchest in Boston after identifying Tatum and Brown as franchise cornerstones but highly doubt he makes that mistake again.
Ideally the Jazz need to hit on 2 lottery picks over the next few years and identify at least 2-3 core players. At that point they can add an all star with multiple years left on their contract in addition to at least one more piece that fits thru trade. The NBA is all about windows these days. Either you are contending or you are in a rebuild to find core players while adding FRP's to the warchest. Danny knows the drill. It currently sucks for the Jazz to see the Rudy/Don team dismantled but there is definitely a light at the end of the tunnel with all the draft capital Ainge has acquired this summer. I think this route is alot better in the long run than wasting more draft capital on band aids such as Conley, etc.

Stars won one in the ABA days.
What ever the resin your more than welcome to chat basketball and help recover from losing out on Mitchell. Don't think he'll ever go there freely tho. Not after your failed trade low ball offer.
