The tank is on.......although the Jazz outscored their opponent by 20 in the 4th quarter. Minnesota lost.

Tanking simply isn’t in the Jazz culture.

Jazz projected to be in three way tie for 8th worst record (8th, 9th or 10th), while TWolves 16th and 76ers/Nets 24th and 25th.

The next eight games will be the final nail or not.

OKC- 3 games
San Antonio- 2 games
Dallas- one game
Charlotte- one game
Orlando- One game

Utah could be anywhere from 7-1 to 1-7.

Ainge screw up the tanking business when he didn't trade the Finnisher. lol

I mean, realistically, the team doesn't seem to be tanking one iota atm.

I like the quote- it makes me chuckle. And it was/is pretty much true.

But then they trade away a bunch of rotation players, and you see them rolling out 2 players that didn't get PT on a bad team (JTA & Jones), a G-League player (Dunn), and a rookie who spent time in the G-League this season (Agbaji) on the floor at the same time... and on paper it would seem like a tank move. They are outmanned nearly every night. The team just plays hard & seems to be well coached. I'm not sure what else they can do, outside of shutting down Lauri & JC (not going to happen).

Personally, I'm loving this season. I never had any disillusion about getting Wemby, so seeing the team play with such effort has made this season great so far. I still don't think they'll make the playoffs, though.

Totally agree about loving this season. When the doom and gloom of trading away the franchise this past summer (as well as Ingles before that), I was on the "I'm not sure I can watch this season. But this team is really fun to watch and while they don't have the star power to compete for a title, the winning culture being created with a bunch of cast off's is really a good story and a feel good season for an otherwise pampered bunch of Athletes (NBA) where getting the headlines (Ala Lakers, Nets & Philly) seems to be the guiding force behind the league. I much prefer to live the drama alone an focus on the games to be played, much more enjoyable!!

Did not think we would even be in the Wemby sweepstakes game, and very glad we didn't focus on that. Way too many variables that could leave the team in shambles for decades.

Interesting take by D News' Sarah Todd:

"Are the Jazz willing to tank harder than the Thunder this week? The two Western Conference foes meet twice in three days this weekend."

Sure is on... we have gifted 3 rotation players plus NAW (who were at times at the rotation before THT) and now Sexton and Clarkson... simply we can't win.

Yep, with no Clarkson, Sexton, Conley, Beasley and NAW, we don't have enough offensive firepower to win games. I suspect we can win some games when Clarkson and Sexton come back though.

I am not complaining about giving up 35 year old Conley, because I am hopeful we can play and develop someone younger, Sexton, Dunn or a pick from this year's draft, but we are leading the league in tovs/game since we sent away Conley.

I watched the end of the Wolves - Lakers game last night. Conley made the Wolves' last two baskets, a three pointer with 1:13 left in the game, followed by a floater in the paint with 43 secs left, to put the game out of reach for the Lakers and lock the win for the Wolves. The Wolves are just 3-4 since Conley's arrival, but Conley is finding his place on the team and is increasing his leadership role as their season marches on.
