Re: 2024 NBA Draft Prospects
In the 7-10 range I'd be most interested in Ron Holland. He does have upside and good physical tools while also playing in a position of need for the Jazz.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Re: 2024 NBA Draft Prospects
I'm sold on Cody Williams for the Jazz. All he needs to do is tighten his handle, add strength and rep out his shot off a few actions to have a real impact. Those are things that NBA players work on all day everyday. Nearly everything Cody shows in these highlights should translate to the NBA. I have him and Topic as the two best prospects, and I'm not sure the Jazz will want someone to be as ball dominant as Topic.

Re: 2024 NBA Draft Prospects
Cody is pretty easily the worst athlete projected in the lottery other than Matas, he needs huge gains to his speed and explosion or he just won't be very good or even NBA viable. He's a PF who can't rebound or block shots at all because he has no explosion and he's just way too slow to close out on shooters.
He's like 40 pounds (maybe 50?) underweight so we'll see how he looks athletically as he starts putting on that weight, but it could take like 5 to 8 years. Gordon Hayward and Lauri Markkanen didn't put on the weight needed for them to be athletic until years 7 and 6 respectively.

Would expect to see the Jazz offer #10 and Walker Kessler for #1 and De'Andre Hunter as Sarr is a much better fit for Hardy on offense and defense.

Re: 2024 NBA Draft Prospects
Somehow Detroit once again falls to 5th place despite having the worst record. And the Rockets benefit from the Nets moving up 6 spots to #3. I actually think they could move that pick, they have so many young players already.

If the Jazz stay at #10, I would expect them to take Knecht, unless a wing they like somehow drops to them. I think they'll also take a look at Collier and Filipowski.
A sleeper pick worth keeping an eye on might be Kyshawn George if he shows development in his workouts.

AJ Johnson is someone who has been a bit out-of-sight, out-of-mind, but he's got some real upside. He reminds me of a slimmer version of Kevin Porter Jr., and his ability to drive and get to the rim is appealing. His data sample from the NBL is limited, so workouts are going to be really key for him. Reportedly, he's grown and inch or two in the past year, and he doesn't turn 19 until December.

I would be pretty shocked by Knecht as he
1. Doesn't help short-term (can't defend)
2. Has very little long-term upside
The big issue with the Jazz's core long-term is that they have no high upside prospects or picks and drafting another low upside guy would be bizarre.
Holland/Cody Williams/Collier are just the obvious calls here as the Jazz have so little upside and need to just take every swing possible.

6.7 percent chance at 10, and here we are lol. It's a bad draft, but having less choice still stinks, especially since we don't have a single clear long-term core piece.

My favorite player for the Jazz right now might be Cody Williams, but I think the Jazz would need to find a way to move up a few spots to get him. The Jazz badly need someone who can create an advantage with the ball. Isaiah Collier isn't my favorite style of guard, but I think he should enter the discussion at this point.

At 10 Collier seems like a reasonable roll of the dice. I think Cody Williams should go top 4, but who knows?

Re: 2024 NBA Draft Prospects
My only issue with taking Sheppard/Dillingham/Collier 10th is that they're such an obviously terrible fit with George (who is way too small to play SG and these guys are also way too small to play SG) that it signals to George that we don't believe in him much at all.
Which you know... The team might not believe in George at all, lol.
But probably best to avoid signalling that.
Positions other than PG and C have more options that make fit easier.

The Spurs tanked hard last year and got Wemby. Karma is clearly broken.

We're keeping our luck for next year's draft.

Rob Dillingham measured really badly at the combine. Would see him falling out of the top 10.

Re: 2024 NBA Draft Prospects
Cody Williams also with just terrible measurements. He's a PF, but only weighs 178 pounds. That's only four pounds more than Trae Young measured in at at the combine. He weighs 33 pounds less than Donovan Mitchell did at draft time and he's a PF...
Would expect Collier to rise past him and Dillingham.

I think most project Cody as a SF but he did come in shorter than expected.

Too slow and unskilled to play SF.

To make a bad draft class even worse, Nikola Topic had a noncontact knee injury in a game today. Yeesh.
