Possible trade scenario

Post#1 » by dr0welf » Fri Jul 5, 2024 8:50 pm

If this trade were to go through, who and how many picks would have to move and to what teams: I put my guess on picks and explanation below. Or if you totally hate the trade... fair :)

Utah Jazz
OUT : Markkanen, Clarkson, Collins, 3 FRP
IN: Keegan Murray, Duarte, Ingram, Daniels

Sacramento
OUT : Huerter, Murray, Duarte, 1 FRP
IN : Markannen, Clarkson

New Orleans
OUT : Ingram, Daniels
IN : Collins, Huerter, 3 FRP from Utah, 1 FRP from Sacramento

I'm really bad at value here but I would assume multiple picks would have to go to New Orleans. Probably from Sacramento and probably some from Utah.

I would value Utahs out as 5 FRP + 1 FRP + 1 SRP
in as 3 FRP + 1 FRP + 5 FRP + 1 SRP = so we would owe 3 FRP

Sacramento value out 1 FRP + 3 FRP + 1 FRP
in 5 FRP + 1 FRP = so they would owe 1 FRP

New Orleans out 5 FRP + 1 SRP
in 1 SRP + 1 FRP

This is just for fun, I like Keegan Murray and I know Sacramento is not looking to move him, but Markkanen on their team would be pretty good. I also didn't look to see what New Orleans wants for moving Ingram. Maybe turn those 4 FRP into a four team with Atlanta to pull Trae over to New Orleans. Or with Portland to snag a couple players there.

Utah gives up 3 first round picks, and we give Markkanen? We want the opposite.

Instead of yakking how terrible this trade is, I congratulate the poster for getting involved in the site and having the courage to suggest a trade. Cheers. I salute you for being a basketball junkie, like all fanatics who have been on here 10 years plus.

If we trade Markk, we would love to get a good young player, like Keegan Murray, but not 2 good players ( that would destroy the tank and lead us to mediocrity).

I like a trade that returns Keegan and 4-5 picks. I heard of a trade with San Antonio that would yield Sochan, Salaun and picks.

Utah cuts out New Orleans, who does not have anything we want.

Daniels has already been traded so this falls apart before it gets started. I think you’re also paying a premium for for both Ingram and Murray but not getting a premium return from Lauri. I think it makes more sense if all the picks where coming from SAC as I have Lauri being worth Murray + Picks

Daniels was just a throw in to make the trade work. I'm not really trying to trade Markkanen to tank, I'm looking at how to get to an elite team. I think Murray and Ingram are both players that you can build a team around. Murray still has a lot of room to grow but his potential is through the roof. I might be overvaluing him, but I think 3 FRP is about where Sacramento would need to be to move him. If we could get Murray and keep Markkanen then we wouldn't need Ingram. I prefer Markkanen over Ingram anyways even though I've been a huge Ingram fan. Also, Murray's age makes him someone we have time to build around where Markkanen is going to start making too much and limit flexibility with his 3-4 year window left in his prime.
