The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Re: Offseason Question #8: Will Hardy
I think Hardy is a good coach and I like the extension. Not that he's perfect, he needs to improve on his defensive schemes and make the team play way better transition defense but overall I think he's good and he'll get better. Since the Jazz are tanking, it's fair to give him a long contract so he could show what he can do once he has a better roster that is trying to compete and not just an ill-fitting patchwork of players.

Re: Offseason Question #8: Will Hardy
Will Hardy is respected around the league, and the players seem to like playing for him. He's shown the ability to get near the most he can from the talent he has. We won't know how shrewd he is until the Jazz are actually competing to win.

It was nice of you to tailor one answer specifically for HadAnEffectHere.

I think he is solid. It's hard to figure out how good given the rosters he has had, but there have been times where the team has overachieved & during this season it doesn't seem that chemistry imploded. I'm fine with the extension, he may or may not be worth it, but if he isn't we can fire him later.

Flagg will fix it all. At least it's be fun year watching how he grows with the rest the young guns. I think all our players love Hardy and believe in him. That's hard after having a season like we just had. Also believe lot of old jazz fans will come back just to watch what a number 1 pick can bring. Yes fans that left after Stockton Malone will sneak back.

I think Hardy is the best asset we have and could potentially be traded if we decided we wanted to go a different direction. Lots of respect for him around the league.

Love the signing. It’s only fair to give him a shot all the way through the rebuilding and asset accumulation time period we have which is 2031 draft.
For me a good coach has two main qualities. Are they above average at the X and O compared to the other coaches in the league. And do they have respect from their players. Can they connect on an emotional and personal level where guys want to play extra hard for you because they trust you have their best interests in mind.
To me he seems to have both. It’s always hard to tell from a fans perspective, but as of now he seems to have both. And the young players coming in now know he is their coach long term and are more likely to have that trust in him because management has the trust to sign him to a long term deal.
I think the sign of a good organization is stability. Think Pop and the Spurs or Sloan with Jazz. Seems to me organizations that we think of as poorly managed are also always turning over new coaches constantly. I don’t want a new coach every couple of years. Find a good coach and stick with him unless it is a championship caliber team and the coach has lost the respect of the players. I guess Malone and Denver would be the example of moving on from a good X and O coach who has lost the team. At least that’s the reports coming out. Or maybe you don’t think he is a good tactical coach as well. Which would make it even easier to move on.
