LAC may buy out....
i know we've DWill, sam has a "strong" character, etc etc.... but the guy has experience and could be the missing piece for the title.
three months.

Cassel would be a terrific addition, but, I don't think he's a guy you want for more than this year, and I imagine he'd get better/more lucrative offers elsewhere.
Add to that that I think Ronnie Price is doing a bang up job, and I don't think you'll see the Alien in Utah Blue.

"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I'd prefer see him in Utah Blue than against us.... even if i like Price, he hasn't play off experience.
And yes, he can seek a more lucrative offer, but not a lot better teams.
bottom line we've very slim chances, but he's one of the few available players who can really change something

If cassell is bought out, he is going to want to go somewhere:
A. He can compete for a title
B. he can get significant playing time
C. with a team not based in Utah
I think he can definitely compete for a title, but with deron running the show he wouldn't get the min or role he wants. I would say boston has cassell locked up IF the clips buy him out. Boston needs a pg badly and who wouldn't want to play with KG, Allen and Pierce?

I dont like it because Sam isnt what we need in a backup PG. Sure I like the experience, but Price brings better energy and a good change of pace from Deron. We need that veteran leadership from another position...C anyone? Sam is more of a scoring PG and I dont think that will fly with the amount of minutes he will play and the players he would have on the court.

Sam has championship experience and would be a huge addition for the Jazz off the bench. Much better than Price and more consistent. Though Price is decent, he's inconsistent. Cassell would be a huge upgrade not only for his leadership and his knowledge for the game, but he's got some serious skill. It WOULD be an upgrade, not a gamble, and I think with the West the way it is, upgrades can't hurt. It's not a weakness of ours, but he'd be an upgrade. Especially come playoff time when experience and consistency matters.
