Eaton's 5.56 bpg vs Stockton's 14.5 apg

Which all-time regular season Jazz record is more impressive, Mark "The Wall" Eaton's 5.56 blocks per game or John "Second Sight" Stockton's 14.5 assists per game?

I take Mark Eaton's record. 5.56 bpg is simply out of this world.

1984-85, Mark was in his third NBA year... at age 28. 456 blocks in a single regular season.

Mark won DPOY that year.

5.56 won't ever be broken. If guys like Shaq, Dwight and Yao can't do it, nobody will.

However look at this point for Stockton's near 15 assists per season.

For everyone 10 assist game he had, he would have to have another 20 assist game just to stay average.

I think while 5.56 bpg is insane, 14.5 apg is severely underrated in this thread. Like Batronuj said, if Stock has a 10 assist game, he must score 19 in the next game just to stay even!

Thats a tough one....both of those stats are extremely impressive....there are great arguments for each side.....wow, i cant decide!!

To put this into perspective, only three teams in the NBA this year average more than 5.5 bpg. 3 teams! Eaton did something on his own that only a couple of teams are able to better on an annual basis.

Also Stockton's record is crazy... 2 time MVP Stevie Nash has gotten considerably lower season records. Considering the defense, and the tacky offensive fouling by finishers, likely it won't be broken either.

Also free throws made by Karl Malone... 9787 career... no 1

ESPN Sports Nation has a poll about NBA records and Stock's assist record is #2 on the not to be beaten by a current player only to Oscar Robertson's triple-double record. The assist record is also voting as the highest for most impressive record besides points.

That being said I vote for Eaton's single season block record. It is highly specialized, didn't last for a decade, but man, it was impressive.
