I'm loving all the good suggestions.

I haven't heard anyone say anything about Rodizious(SP?), but that is my favorite place to eat in Salt Lake when I visit.

Rodizio is alright. Just a lot of grilled meat. Nothing wrong with grilled meat.

Thats what she said...

Anyways... I'll give a shout out to the Mikado and Tucci's. I have only been once to each place, but they were both excellent.

By the way... this is the best thread to ever hit the Jazz forum.

For sandwiches, Caputo's and Robin's Nest downtown are great. I also like Gusto in the aves and Gandolfo's.

The original pancake house on 21st south is the best breakfast I've had in salt lake city. Also very solid though is the millcreek cafe on 33rd south, and the park on 13th south.

Burgers: B and D's.

For cheap mexican at 2 AM...gotta go with Molca Salsa. It's greasy and definitely not good for you, but their carne asada and breakfast burritos are like comfort food to me.

Sawadee (which is 8th east and south temple, not at the nexus of a dimensional portal), is definitely good. I used to live right next to it so I'd walk there for lunch all the time.

Chinese, Little World take out only, I don't recommend eating in there, it's pretty gross. There's sort of a lack of good chinese downtown/university area I think.

One last thing, I highly recommend the Himalayan Kitchen downtown. That place is really interesting, although I can only eat there once in a great while due to it's effects on my gastrointestinal system.

If you want to wander a bit further from the path, Gabor Brothers is a little italian dive on main street in Layton, and their Calzones are awesome. Beware though, unless you have a mammoth appetite, those Calzones are big enough for two or three people.

I took the wife to Thai Spice today as was suggested. I got a chicken and cashew dish and mussimo curry (sp?). Both were good and everything was fresh and cheap and well presented. Unfortunately, after I got my food I learned that you have to request them to make it spicy. So, my food was more mild than I like when I eat Thai.

Next time I go I'll make sure to have them prepare it spicy for me.

Someone suggested teh original pancake house on 21st, and they are right, that place is great. Long wait, and limited hours, so don't think it's like going to village inn. I get teh Tahitian crepes. AWESOME. Portions are kinda small and it's not cheap, so don't go there if you're used to paying 4.95 for a LUmberjack breakfast, you'll be disappointed.

Another breakfast place I like to go sometimes is 'the Other Place.' Tehy are a greek breakfast place around 3rd south and 4th east or so. They were cheap once upon a time, now I find them kinda spendy, but, they are pretty good if you want a little greek breakfast. I like the garlic toast, so if you go there and they ask you what kind of toast you'd like, be sure to ask for Garlic Bread.

OOOH! I just remembered a good one. I hope it is still open, it is great. On 3rd west near the booby bar there is a Peruvian place that is really really good.

BTW, Himalayan Cafe is AWESOME! Really good. Right next to BC Chicken, which Ironically is a fine place to get a Gyro. And it is all just a alley ways walk from my church and true home, Junior's Tavern.
